Gemini let himself be pulled by the tongue. Time passed faster in pleasant company. He, Iris, Phuwin and Dunk were sitting in the unfurnished room assigned to Norawit, in which, apart from two simple, not very comfortable, hard black chairs and a small closet, there was absolutely nothing, the walls were bare and gray, and they preferred to make themselves comfortable on the floor on the blanket Iris had brought. Phuwin and Dunk promised to help their brother move into an apartment at the Institute, but asked that it be put off until the next morning. Then they were to ask Mr. Puttha to personalize the room settings to suit Gemini best."For now, you can spend this one night in my room, Pond won't mind if you take his place, you're my brother after all," — Phuwin said in a surprisingly friendly tone. His hair was still wet from a recent bath, but he was too lazy to dry it, and since he was in perfect health, he didn't have to worry about getting sick.
The air in the room was heavy, not pleasant, as if it had not been used for a long time, so Gem, the new owner, went to the window and opened it as wide as possible, letting in a cool, pleasant breeze that carried the smell of flowers planted nearby. Gem was happy as a little child and couldn't hide his excitement that he was in a place that had always been his goal and dream. And he got here after he had given up all hope. Just meeting his boss, P'Zee, seemed overwhelming to him, though he didn't get the negative impression he'd expected from the brothers' stories. Zee just seemed unhappy to him... Gem wasn't going to mention it to New (at least for now), but now he thought even more that they would make a great couple, Zee and NuNew. He only briefly considered whether to tell Iris, but decided it was too much of an intrusion into someone's private life, and Iris might spill anything to her brother - it didn't sound safe.
Gem stretched as if he had just woken up from a long sleep, took a deep breath feeling a distinct change in the atmosphere. He had already imagined the same room filled with his belongings and a whole lot of assorted potted plants. He planned to turn the room into a small forest. At home, his mother would only allow him to keep fish in the aquarium, claiming that her son, though talented in many ways, could surely kill even a cactus. If he had any plants, it was because his mother took care of them. The boy was slightly offended by such a clear lack of trust and faith in his abilities and sometimes reminded his mother of this, but mostly in jest. He loved her and knew he could always go to her for advice.
Now he smiled at one of his brothers who was sitting across from him and who was about to give him the seat that usually belonged to Pond.
"Thanks Phu." — Gem gave him a thumbs up. That took at least one problem off his mind. He was relieved because he didn't like the idea of sleeping on a hard floor, even though Iris had already brought him a blanket and Dunk could borrow pillows. Little did he know that part of his new training program would be learning to adapt to all conditions, including sleeping outside, on grass, on hard, cold stone floors, and finally on mosquito-needle hay in abandoned barns. As Knights of the Light, they had to be able to survive in any situation and be prepared for the worst. Gemini didn't expect a comfortable life, but even so, he knew it would take some time to get used to it, time to adapt.
Iris, who had always loved to eat, reminded him so much of his friend from school, Rose, and this time she took care of the snacks, placing them in the middle of the floor on a gray blanket with red hearts and red roses that she had brought. There was even fruit, crisps of various flavors, colorful cakes with cream or her brother's favorite macaroons.
Suddenly they heard a knock on the door. Iris jumped up, danced lightly and gracefully to the door to let in the last guest, NuNew. New brought a guitar with him, because he had already learned that Gemini could play many instruments, including the guitar, and he wanted to test it with his own eyes or rather with his own ears. If Gemini turned out to be good at it, he was going to offer him to participate in the recording of his new songs. New had to admit Iris was right, someone like Gemini certainly attracts attention and draws people to him, which would certainly help in the promotion of further songs.
"Hey everyone," — he greeted those present for the second time that day, bowing slightly.
"Hi NuNew," — they shouted back in unison. Phu showed him to the seat next to him.
"Sit with us, we've been waiting for you."
Dunk reached for a box of colorful macaroons, wanting to tease New a bit by pretending he was going to eat them all himself. Nu's reaction satisfied him. New made a sad face and asked.
"Hey Dunk, could you share some macaroons with me? Please?"
"Let me think... What will I get out of it?"
Gemini watched this without taking part in their little quarrel, instead sipping green tea with lemongrass that tasted so good to him, as if he had never drank anything better before. He had ordered it earlier in their branch cafeteria and hadn't expected something so delicious.
Finally Gem started talking. He wanted to show them the photo, but when he reached into his pants pocket, he found that his phone was not there. He remembered leaving it on New's dresser while he was changing. He just shrugged and went on, painting in their minds a picture of that special morning that changed his life forever. They listened attentively, snacking on what was in front of them and interjecting a question from time to time. From word to word, they learned that the nong Gemini had been unsuccessfully looking for the boy who had saved his life when he lost consciousness for almost three years.
New, as he listened, felt an invisible hand squeezing his heart, causing a great surge of sympathy. At the same time, he admired the perseverance, stubbornness and patience of their new colleague. He was sure that he himself, after all this time and after so many failures and disappointments, would have given up searching for that stranger.
"Don't worry, nong Gemini, I'm sure you'll find your boy one day."
And New really believed it. Gemini evoked positive emotions in him, and his story was touching and so beautiful and romantic that both New and Phuwin promised to help him find the boy he was looking for, even though they knew nothing about him.
In the morning of the next day, the decoration of Gemini's room began, and he intended to design his apartment slightly differently than the one he had at home. Here he could safely hang a rainbow flag and a poster from his favorite BL series "Not Me", starring his favorite actor and idol, Gun Atthaphan. A special team assembled all kinds of wardrobes, cupboards, tables, chests of drawers and even a bed. Shelves were placed with books on them, and a guitar, keyboard and drums were placed in the room. There were all the weird plants available in the area (the weirder the plant, the better according to Gemini), copies of textbooks from the "other world", as he now called reality and the universe he had been living in. He had learned that the place in the universe they were currently in was located in an extra dimension that the unwitting UnMagical called Geminovia. that it sounded surprisingly similar to his own nickname, New was quick to clear up the misunderstanding: that from their planet Earth, in universe 492, one of the older universes, their "home" could be traced back to the constellation of Gemini.
