My head hurts.

The headache I had because of the buff never seemed to disappear.

I could never 'clearly' think. It's always like there is a fog around my thoughts, but I do my best when I try to think.

There also wasn't only a fog but a stinging, generally all around my head.

It's not really a kind of pain that you just get used to after a while. I've had it for a few months now and it never seems to get easier to deal with, which sucked.

In the future, I'll have to find a way to deal with this before it drives me completely kookoo bananas.

But now, I just wanted to rest.

Building a cozy cabin on the edge of some small town and relaxing there for a few short weeks sounded like pure joy after all I have been through.

Retire for a while, while also trying to learn a bit more about the world, some history maybe. I was always a big fan of lore in all that I read or played. I also liked the history of my own world.

The Roman Empire and The Warring States in China were most likely my favorite subjects.

I also don't have any work to do or any other kind of responsibility, to anything or anyone.

Which some could see as a good or bad thing.

In my case, I think it's good.

I had family, Mom and Dad, of course, but there was no way that they would invite me, a random person who was claiming to be their son, into their home.

No animosity or judgment there, I also wouldn't. Anyone with a rational mind wouldn't.

There were a few people looking for me right now, but they wouldn't find me.

They were either searching for Sword the Warlock, A Beast-Man or, just recently developed, a raven-haired puppeteer who destroyed an ancient cultural landmark in Jento.

Right now, I was just a harmless old lady.

Gray hair, wrinkles, hunched over, but I still had all my teeth, pearly white.

"Faye," I said in my new voice, which was a sort of raspy murmur, "you also should take a rest, don't you think? Maybe go and visit Alexandra, you could tell her that you're there to report all you've recorded about my life, as an excuse to see her. Tell her I said Hi. Y'know, we both did a lot of things, me mostly, sometimes good, oftentimes bad, but who are they to judge and say that I've committed crimes? What do they think I should do? Pull a Code Geass and suddenly fix everyone's problems by dying? I could also call it 'Pulling a Guilty Crown'. But life's more complicated than that."

I thought about what I said for a moment.

Faye wasn't going to respond, that I was sure of, so there was no obligation to listen if she was going to say anything.

Everything may not be so complicated after all. I mean, this is an isekai story, isn't it?

If something interesting happens, then it'll find its way towards me.

From today on, I'll have a holistic approach to the typical isekai tropes.
