2nd person POV:
You were finally on the bus, you were for the majority of the conversation with your mom and holy hell were you scared. I mean.. she was your mom. The bitch could literally turn you upside down, fold you like laundry and throw you in a closet. Getting off the bus you jog your way to the store you're now officially working at. This time when you opened the door you were met with a new person behind the register.
"Heya! You're the new dude who applied, yeah? Ah– Call me Troy." She said, Troy indeed was beautiful goddamn. "I know I don't look the part but.. can you please refer to me as a he/him?" He asked in a hushed tone, almost sounding embarrassed– or scared. "Not at all! I'm (Y/N) nice to meet you" You introduced yourself as you walked over to the employee section.
The best you could physically describe Troy was slightly chubby but curvy at the same time with beautiful dark toned skin and shoulder length braided black hair with pink tips. He also had brown or hazel-ish eyes that quite literally sparkle every time a topic he was interested in came up. "Cool hair color dude, where'd you get it dyed?" You asked in amazement as he turned to you with a massive grin. "At a local salon, it's around a 30 minute drive from here and an extra 10 to 20 minute walk but damn they have amazing workers there."
"Heard you're not from around here soooo...-" You turned to look at Troy. "I'm from [c/n], a lovely country, people? not so much" He chuckled at your joke. "Oh? I've heard good things, I heard the food there is really good! I wanna go there and try it one day." You were thrilled that he said that. It meant you could cook some for him too. "I'm still learning to cook but I can bring some for lunch tomorrow." You swore his eyes had a small glint of sparkle in them as he happily accepted your offer.
"I'm so excited, lord I can't wait for tomorrow! Oh, by the way you are on supply. Make sure the shelves are always arranged and full of supplies, if there's none left you can write them down on that notepad over there and we order them before ending our shift." He introduced you as you nodded along, trying your best to remember every detail.
"You think you can do it? I have like 10 minutes left of my shift and the other worker doesn't come in till 13:00" He whispered to you, sparing a small glance at the customer that just came in. "mhm! I'll be good, its not a big wait so i'll only be alone for like 30 minutes" You nod, sweeping the slightly dusty shelves since there was no work needed to be done at the very moment.
You saw Troy nod in approval. You bent yourself backwards, cracking your now aching back, hearing a small nearly silent crunch. God that felt so much better. Time passed rather quickly, Troy ended up leaving soon after and the other worker showed up not too long after. You also got to introduce yourself to her. She was a lovely paler dirty blonde woman with a dark brown and another very light hazel eye. She was absolutely mesmerizingly beautiful. Your shift ended a few minutes ago and you just said your goodbye to your coworker. Realisation hit you that you never asked for her name, you just called her ma'am as a sign of basic respect.
She gave you a couple chuckles and glances when you did that so you guessed she didnt mind at all. You peacefully made it to the block your house was on, noticing the police were already on the 24/7 surveillance you were told will happen. Giving the two officers a small nod as they ask you a few necessary questions like if there's any other doors they should watch over or what your daily schedule is like. After the pretty small chat with the officers you walk inside, noticing mom already there, cooking dinner.
It wasn't that late so it caught you off guard. "Hey mom.. I'm home now" You said in a hushed tone to not scare her, she seemed really focused on the food.
"Oh! Y/n, welcome home. How was work?" She asked with a smile, sparing you a glance as she continued to stir whatever was in the pan. "Pretty well, the offic—" You didn't get to finish your sentence as she cut you off. "Why didn't you tell me about the man? We could've done something sooner dear." She said in worry, giving you a more proper look this time. "I'm sorry....I didn't want to worry you.." You stammered out in shame, she was right, why the fuck did you not tell your mother about this?! You heard her sigh as a hand ruffled your hair. "Oh well there's not much to do about it now, is it? Go take a shower, your dad should be home very soon." Turning and walking out of the kitchen you make your way to your bedroom, absolutely exhausted.
Right before you turned on your light a gush of wind caught your attention. You didn't leave the window open.. Glancing up you felt your blood run cold. Your hands sweat as you quickly turn on the light and prompt your good hand up in a fist, ready to strike anything that was previously hiding in the dark.
Nothing..
