Chapter 6 : The Winter Spirit

Jack

I was sitting on a dock on the edge of town, pretty depressed. Who knew your hopes could be destroyed so fast, what am I supposed to do now if Elsa thinks she's imagining?

I sighed, I was so tired of being invisible... Wait... That's it!

Anna

I'm so worried about Elsa! She won't talk to me, so I can't help her, and now she says she needs a doctor?

I heard a knock on my door and got up to go get it. I opened it grumbling from having to move, " What? "

I asked, but no one was there, I groaned, what the? This is weird. As I was about to close the door, a cold gust of wind blew into the room... from the hallway... Okay, that's a little more weird.

I closed the door and sat down, not remembering what I was doing.... Right! Worrying about Elsa, what if she had a terrible disease? Or something worse?

I was so worried I almost didn't realize the odd things happening in my room... almost. Call me crazy, but it actually started snowing, wait... snowing? I didn't believe it myself, little snow flakes were swirling around the room, blowing a few loose papers with them.

I didn't know what to do, but someone must be doing this, right? " Hello? " I half greeted, half asked.

No one replied, but one of the papers stopped blowing and floated to the ground.

I walked up to it and read it out loud, " Hi, " ????? Did the mini snow storm in my room just talk to me?

" Who are you? " I asked.

Something started to crackle, so I looked at the floor and gasped. ' Jack Frost ' was spelled out across my room in frost.

" I'm confused, Jack Frost, like the old legend of the guy who nips at your nose? " I questioned, raising an eyebrow.

The words ' Jack Frost ' were replaced with, ' No, I don't do that nipping stuff, that's just weird. '

I chuckled, " So, why are you here? " I asked.

Once again the frost formed new words, ' I need your help. '

I scoffed at ' Jack Frost ' I still didn't believe he was real, " What could I possibly help you with? "

' Talk to Elsa, she's not crazy, ' was his response, and with that it stopped snowing, the papers fluttered to the ground, and the window flew open. It's weird for someone who could possibly be made up in my mind I could feel the absence of his presence.

I shut the window and hurried to Elsa's room, I could see the doctor walking down the hall, so he must be down with his check up.

I knocked on the door, " Yes? " Elsa asked.

" Can I talk to you for a second? " I crossed my fingers as I asked.

She sighed and said, " I guess. "

I ignored the excitement and calmed down, I opened the door and sat down across from her.

" What do you need to talk to me about? " Elsa asked.

Elsa

" Well, two things, first how did the check up go? " Anna asked me.

" Good, the doctor has to come back in a couple of days for another check up, " I lied about it going good, I didn't want to worry her.

" That's good, you had me worried, wait, but isn't your coronation in a couple days? " she wondered.

Shoot! I forgot! " Yes, I know, but this shouldn't interfere with it, " I lied again, I was supposed to be excited about coronation, but honestly I was dreading it.

" Great! About the other thing, the winter spirit, Jack Frost, told me to tell you that you're not crazy... I have no idea what that means, but I thought you should know, " she said like it was no big deal.

I sat there in shock, was Anna going insane too.... or was I not in the first place?

" Well, I'll leave you alone, you probably have a lot to think about, " she said, getting up and hurrying out the door and closing it behind her.

" Whaaaat? " I asked myself, " Jack Frost? The winter spirit? That sounds familiar... " I spoke to myself.

I ran to my closet and opened the door, I got down on my hands and knees and searched the bottom of the closet. I felt a hole in one of the floorboards and stuck my finger in it and lifted it up. Underneath was a lever covered in cobwebs and dust, it made me sneeze, clearing some of it off.

I reached in and pulled it up, ignoring the brown marks of rust on my used to be pure white gloves. The back of the closet fell open showering me in dust, I coughed and looked inside.

I gulped it was complete darkness, but I pushed away my fear, like I did with everything, and entered the tunnel in front of me.
