The trial room was filled with people all around. David sat looking aimless on one of his chairs. His lawyer looked done as he already knew there was absolutely nothing he could do from his side.
Christian, Christine, Amyra, Alex, and Emma all were present inside the room. Everyone was just eagerly waiting for the judge to come.
At least after waiting for what felt like an hour or so. The judge entered. On entering, we all stood up and then sat down when he sat as well. He scanned the room for a brief second and started reading certain documents kept in front of him. The judge finally looked up at David and asked the lawyer to start the trial. Before the lawyer could start speaking. David jumped up from his seat and said, "May I speak ?"
" Yes, you may, " said the judge.
" Sir I've done many crimes in my life but I haven't ever hurt a single soul on earth. I used to love a girl. Her name was Jane. Jane Rossandria. She was everything in my life. But one must always know that not everything is permanent. I was floating in delusion as I was so in love with her. She got pregnant with my child and we decided to marry each other. But fate did not let that happen. Or I would rather say, Anthony. He and his wife ruined my life. They killed my Jane. She was moaning in pain but nobody looked up. She died and died along with her my own blood and flesh. Anthony and his wife never had a child. In fact, she couldn't bear a child but seeing her they got jealous and Anthony used to beat his wife every day. So his wife persuaded his husband to kill my wife, thinking that this will end the misery of their life. Their marriage problems will be fixed. But my innocent Jane never harmed anybody or wanted anything wrong. Then why did she have to suffer? Why was she taken away from me? Answer me. It's not easy. It's not easy that I chose this path. From that day onwards I despise human beings. I ruin them and it gives me peace. So I decided to come up with something so dangerous that the whole world would suffer and then my jane will get justice. This world punishes good people and leaves the bad. So I decided to punish everybody to give her an equal status" said David breaking down in tears.
Christine and Amyra both of them wanted to go and talk to him but no matter how much sympathy you feel for a person. When somebody is wrong they are wrong. Christian held Christine's hand, not breaking eye contact and holding her softly. Alex put his hands on Amyra's shoulder to provide her comfort, knowing that she is in pain.
Everyone at one point in their life needs somebody. Somebody who would love them without judgment and will have full compassion. David had someone like that and that someone was snatched away from him. That is why he had grievances for people. He envied others' happiness.
The judge listened to it with utter concentration and spoke with the jury for quite a bit and said that he will give the final verdict after a short 20 minutes break. He will discuss it with the other judges and will come up with the true judgment.
Everybody went out of the room to drink and all. Mr. Grover came and stood in front of us.
" I'm sorry that you all had to go through all of these troubles because of a shit friend like Anthony. Because if it wasn't for him, David wouldn't have evolved into something like this " said Mr Grover.
" No sir it's fine. As long as they get their deserved punishment" said Christine
" They will and I'm making sure of it," said Mr Grover.
" It's just that we all trusted him a lot with everything to be more precise. I am really sorry for what happened to him. He didn't deserve it for sure. But even a bad path is chosen by that person. So according to law, he shall suffer " said amyra.
Mr. Grover nodded as in a yes. He looked down. He must be feeling guilty for whatever had happened. But it wasn't his mistake.
The trial resumed and everybody entered the room once more and sat in their respective seats.
The judge picked up a paper and started reading
" The accused Mr David Radcliffe was charged with the murder of many innocent citizens under section 302 of the penal code. Today he confessed his heinous crime in the court of New York on 24th June 2023 at 4:25 pm. Under 302 of the penal code, since the person is found guilty, he will be provided with lifetime imprisonment".
The judge said and stamped the hammer onto the desk and called off the trial after declaring his answer. David sat there looking just sad. He did not even meet our eyes with us. It was hatred or guilt nobody knows. But he felt something that he did something wrong and this would pay him for the rest of his life.
Everybody just sat there and looked at him until he was taken away by the police and he just vanished into thin air from the sight.
Everybody stood up from their seat and started going out of the room. Emma already left as she had an important meeting to attend.
Christine and Christian went outside hand in hand, sad about the whole situation but also relieved that the law shall choose the truth and punish the evil.
Amyra and Alex also went outside and met Christine and Christian who were already standing outside.
" I'm tired. I think I'll probably go home now. I need some proper sleep" said Amyra
" Me too. I'll go as well with you " said Christine.
" Go home and take rest guys. We'll meet soon " said Alex.
" Call me once y'all reach," said Christian.
" Yes sir," Christine said with a smile.
Both of them got inside their car and drove past them.
Christian and Alex looked at each other
" Wanna play a game?" said Christian and Alex together with a laugh.
They have always played games ever since they were kids. But this job doesn't really give them much free time. They decided to use it carefully since they got it.
" What are you buying ?" Asked Alex
" Has to be Beer and fried chicken " said Christian
" Perfect," said Alex with a smile...
They both went inside their car and drove off with speed and faded into the air.
Finally, at peace after weeks of disappointments, fights, hurt and so much more but in the end, the good does win... isn't it?
