The 8 Second Ride

The Longest Ride

Jason' POV-

I put my hand in the bucket and I pull out the bull I will be riding and the slip says "Little Lightning".

I go find the pen my bull is in and I am shocked at how big he is. He is a full white bull with horns that are at least 6 inches long and rounded at the end.

I hear the announcer came on and said that barrel racing was up next and I had to go watch my sister's run. Plus Clara is running and I want to see if she still has it or not.

I reach the chutes right as the announcer starts to introduce a rider that took a long break. I am pretty dang sure that he is talking about Clara. A Jason Aldean song came on and it had a nice rock beat. Everyone starts cheering and Clara comes rushing out of the chute. Her first turn around the barrel was perfect and when she went for the second barrel she executed that turn perfectly too. She also gets around the third barrel and pushes it back into the alley way. Her time is in between 13 and 14 seconds, she is almost as good as my sister.

My sister's run is up next and she does as good as she always does but the turn around her first barrel was a little off. Later Jo comes over and tells me that she is going to get dressed for the after party with Clara.

I can't believe a guy asked my sister out for the dance and one thing I really like about the Andrew kid is that he asked me if he could take her. That's just amazed me because most guys wouldn't do that now a days.

"Jason it's your turn for the ride hurry up and get over here." I hear Jack yells and waves.

I jump down from the rail and climb up the chute. I prepare for my ride and climb onto the back of Little Lightning and grab my bull rope that Jack put on for me.

I wait until the announcer finishes introducing me and then I give the everyone a nod. The guy manning the gate pulls it open and Little Lightning bursts out of the chute. Before he even starts bucking he bolts to the other end of the arena. I wasn't prepared for when he did a belly roll and reared up. After running again he dropped his front half of his body and kicked his back legs up really high. I was barely holding on when the buzzer went off. I jump off and start walking back to the exit when I hear pounding of hooves behind me, I run and jump over the rail and knock someone over in the process.

"I am so sorry." I say helping her up.

"It's okay as long as your not hurt." she looks up at me and I realize it's Clara.

"Clara what are you doing here I thought you were suppose to be with my sister."

"Yeah she is talking to Andrew and I came to tell you I will meet you at your trailer because I have to look over Joey.

"Why don't you do that tomorrow because by the looks of it you, your sister and my sister will all be running tomorrow."

"I didn't know I had to run tomorrow if I had a good time." she grunts and its kind of cute.

"Well your going to have to now since your time was so good."

"I don't have any clothes to wear tonight or tomorrow, I already had to borrow clothes from your sister and I don't want to be a bother."

"I don't think she would mind, she doesn't have many friends on the circuit and you have already become so I will ask her if you can." I grab her arm and pull her out of the way so people can watch.

"I have to go and get my score for the ride, you should go find my sister so you two can go and get ready." I say pointing to my sister and Andrew.

"Okay see you at the barn." she smiles and walks away.

I walk back to the chutes and all the guys start to clap.

"Great job cousin, now are you going to ride that good tomorrow is the question of the day."

"I will try and I can't guarantee that I will win it all but we will see."

I walk away and go back to the trailer and change into nice jeans and a button up shirt. I am pulling my boots on when my sister comes in.

"Hey Jo, I have a question."

"Ask away." she says still not looking at me.

"Clara is running tomorrow and she doesn't have any clothes to wear and she wondering if she could borrow any of yours?"

"Was she wondering or were you wondering?" she turns around and smirks at me.

"I was wondering but could she borrow some clothes?'

"Yeah and you can tell her that because she is staying with us tonight because her sister has leave tonight and get Leo home, so Max is staying with us too."

"Wait you didn't ask me about this spending the night thing."

"I thought I didn't have to because I know you wouldn't mind."

She leaves leaving me in awe.
