You Should Be Here

This is what Destiny and Freightliner's foal is going to look like. I cried as I typed the last chapter. Any of you guys cry just reading it? It will be in Clare's point of view for awhile.

Clare's POV-

"Clare come on you've gotta get out of bed!!!!" Jo yells at me through the door.

"No I'm not getting up." my eyes hurt from crying constantly since Jason left.

"Well if you want to miss Destiny giving birth then go ahead and stay in bed" I heard her walking away from the door.

It took me awhile to comprehend what she said and when I realized what she said I shot up out of bed throwing jeans, a t-shirt and my boots on. I ran to the barn and stopped when I saw Destiny's stall door open. This is the first time in a week I've seen my horses and they all whinnied excited to see me. I rushed to her stall and saw Destiny of the ground with her tail wrapped and laying on her side. She saw me and let out a quiet nicker.

"I'm here now baby girl, you'll be fine. Just push the baby right on out." I sit on the ground next to her head and softly pet her neck.

"She's been down for about 20 minutes so we should be expecting a foal in the next hour or two. But she's been pushing pretty hard so it might be sooner." Jo leans against the stall door frame.

"Knowing her it won't be out for another 3 hours. But looking at her now she should be having it very soon." I smile down at my beautiful horse.

I get up and walk out of the stall. I walk over to my barrel horse Max and put his halter on. I grabbed a pair of reins, hooking them to his halter.

"Jo will you come here and hold me for." she nods and holds his halter for me.

I run and jump onto his back, after I swing my leg over I start to walk towards the arena.

"Where are you going? Aren't you going to watch Destiny till the baby comes?" Jo walks beside me.

"No I've learned over the years and several foals that Destiny hates having people watch her while she's doing her thing. So I usually go do work or ride. I check in on her every so often and when I see the foal is coming. She's is also really noisy when she is pushing so we'll know." I trot into the arena.

I work on a little ground work when I hear a high pitched whinny and I know it's Destiny. Hurrying out of the arena and putting Max in his stall, I run into Destiny's stall and right when she pushes. I walk around her and see the foal is half way out. I can tell she's struggling to push it so I go behind her and put a shoulder length gloves on and slowly help her easy the foal out. I can tell when she brings her head up that she is thankful for the help. When the foal is finally out I step back and let Destiny do her mom thing. I look and see it's a little colt. Just like Jason wanted, he said it would be a colt.

Tears start running down my cheeks when the colt stands tries to stand up and falls back down. He is almost the same color as his mom but has all the markings of his dad. Jason wanted the colt to look like his dad, well I guess he got a little bit of both. I sat in the stall watching the two crying of how much I realized this reminded me of Jason. About an hour later after trying for so long he finally stood up. That's when I thought of a name for him, 'Lieutenants Pride' and his barn name will be Pride. I know Jason didn't want the colts name to have anything to do with him but I felt it was right and it fit the little guy. Jo walks in and smiles at the little family.

"Have you thought of a name for him yet?" she walks over and sits by me.

"Yeah his register name is going to be Lieutenants Pride and barn name will be Pride." I smile with quiet tears running down my face.

"I know would have loved it. The little times he came home to see us, he always talked about how excited he was to see the little colt and how he knew it was a colt. He said he could feel it in his bones that you were going to have another amazing horse and by the looks of him now he's gonna grow up to be a beautiful horse." she hugged me to her side.

"I think its time to let these two get some alone time and for me to go work with my other horses. I wanna run in a rodeo in a couple of weeks. So let's go see where the nearest rodeo is." I walk out of the stall taking one look back at the colt suckling on its mother.

Smiling to myself, I thank God in my head for giving me exactly what Jason wanted.
