The 8 Second Ride

Hey guys I am thinking about doing bareback bronc riding. Girls can ride bareback bronc and bull riding in high school, but after high school they can only ride bareback broncs. I am going into high school at the start of this next school, comment if you think I should do it.

Jason's POV-

"Why are you just like this foal?" I ask watching as she works with all three of the horses.

"I want to be free and he wants to be able to run without the restraints of a confined area." she says while petting the foal.

"You could run free if you wanted. All you have to do is break a few rules and run away."

"I can't do that, I have people that expect more from me and they want to see me do things correctly." she says with a sigh.

"Now that my sister got me to barrel race again, I feel freer then I have ever felt in a along time." she continues.

"Well at least you can feel a little bit of that now. But one day you will be able to feel the whole effect." I say while going up to Max and patting his neck.

"I want to apologize for what I did yesterday morning. I had no right to knee you where you don't want to be kneed. I shouldn't have stayed with you either, it just made things awkward." she says not looking at me.

"I wanted to apologize to for what I did, I shouldn't of tried to kiss you and you had every right to do what you did. I was acting like a jerk. I am sorry."

"It's fine and I am sorry." she says.

"So are you still coming around the country to rodeos with us this summer?" I ask while picking my hat up off the ground after Gemini pulled it off.

"Yeah, Andrew is just going to give me a ride home so I can see my parents and pick up stuff for the rest of the summer." she says while swinging herself up onto Gemini's back.

"Ok well you look like your busy so I am going to go." I turning away. 

"No stay, I need someone to help me with these guys."

"What do you need help with?" I ask.

"Get on Max and I am going to show you how to ride tackless, but you will have a halter and reins." she says while trotting away and loping Gemini and Twister over a jump.

"Okay, but I have never ridden bareback." she chuckles.

"Well this should be an experience for you then." she a mischievous smile on her face.

45 minutes later 

"God dammit." I say to myself, I just fell off for the fifth time.

"You are fine, suck it up and be a man. You just aren't holding on with your legs, your sticking them out like they're sticks. Watch me." she trots away and I watch her long, tan legs.

"Now get back on and try again I don't care if we miss the rodeo because you haven't gotten how to ride without a saddle." she says sternly.

"Okay, fine." I huff.

2 hours later

I can finally lope bareback without falling off.

"Jason I want you to trot and go over that ground pole." Clara is standing on the ground acting like a trainer, she had Gemini beside me making sure I keep the pace she wants.

"Collect your trot." she says and I pull on Max's reins and he collects he trot. We trot towards the row of ground poles. When we go over the first ground pole he picks he leg up higher and the trot gets a little bumpier.

"Heels down!" Jo yells while motioning for Gemini to come to her. Swings herself onto her back.

"I am going to do a 3ft jump and then you can do a 6 inch one." she lopes away to the edge of the arena.

She stays the same pace and when she approaches the jump she collects the reins a little bit. Gemini pushes off the and swiftly lands on the other side of the jump. Clara has a smile on her face and she lopes until she gets to me.

"Now it's your turn." she says breathless.

"Okay."

I trot away from and start to lope until I hit the other side of the arena and I trot up to the jump. I bend like Jo did and land safely on the side. To Clara it probably just be a hop rather then a jump.

I walk back over to her and she is smiling.

"You did really good for a first timer." she smirks and slides off Gemini.

"Well I don't think I will do that every again."

"If you are ever going to be at my house you can see me jump almost 5ft on my actual show jumping horse with an English saddle." she says while grabbing her halter and putting it on.

"I would like to that and I are you going to wear those tight pants that all those English riders wear?" I ask not knowing why they wear those silly things.

"Yes I always wear those when I ride English." she smiles.

"Well we should bring these horse back so they have time to rest." she nods and starts to walk to the gate.

"Oh and hey I am staying at Andrew's trailer tonight because we are leaving right away tomorrow morning."

"Okay be careful and can you give Jo your address so we can pick you up in a couple of days." I say before hoping over the fence.

"Yeah see you later and good luck on your ride tonight." she smiles and walks away.

She walks away and I watch her hips sway as she walks away. Her long, tan legs look so smooth in the sunlight.

She is going to be the death of me.
