'Follow this cat', the note said.

It was attached by a string to an orange cat, very bushy. The cat was sitting with an attitude, as if it had better things to do, but clearly respected whoever sent it enough to do this.

Riley looked outside. Decently light. No one would notice her absence, surely.

So she followed the cat.

A few suspicions were raised with the whomping willow, because even Riley, who had not a single interest in Quidditch, knew what damage it did to Harry Potter's old broom. But then he got a flashier, newer brand, that she didn't know the name of, from a secret admirer. And of course, that got a lot of attention, and not the necklace she got.

So, as she walked into the room, there was a figure, when it came into light, she wished she never came.

Sirius Black.

The serial killer.

"Y-your Sirius Black. I-I shouldn't have come in the first place. I-I made a big mistake. I-I'm so-sorry. P-please don't hurt me." She said, quivering.

"Addy? You're Addy, right?" He had a glint of hope in his eyes.

"Wh-who is Addy?"

He looked even more desperate, "Adeline Julia Felicity Riley Dark de Valentine. My daughter."

She took a sharp intake of breath, "What do you mean? That is my name. I'm not your daughter. I'm not your daughter. I'm not your daughter. My parents are muggles. I'm not your daughter. I'm not your daughter. I'm not your-"

His eyes filled with joy, "Yes! Yes you are! Addy!" He fumbled around and brought out a container. It said: Veritaserum. Riley recognised it as the strongest truth potion on earth.

Sirius willingly took three drops, as the orange cat jumped on the bed and cuddled next to him.

"I am your father." He said, leaving Riley shocked. He told her everything, before answering her questions.

"What was my mother's name?"

"Felicity de Valentine."

"Why did you name me what you did?"

He groaned, "Your mother's choice. The name I had in mind was Regina Black. Keep the Black name going, and the tradition of star themed names. But your mother wouldn't have it. At least the 'Dark' bit was a little tribute. I don't regret it at all though. It's a beautiful name, for a beautiful girl. My daughter."

"Where is my mother now?"

His face darkened, "One of Pettigrew's victims."

He really was evil, wasn't he? Killing Harry's parents like that.

"Can I see you again?"

"Of course." He grinned, "I want you to live with me. But until I get that sorted, we can meet in Hogsmeade next year."

Riley's smile was so bright. She would finally have her own home. Yes, Luna's house was nice, but it would be nothing compared to her own.

"I'd love that. But I've heard that you need a guardian's permission for Hogsmeade. No one can know you are my father, so who do I go to?"

"Remus teaches at your school, no? Professor Lupin?" Riley nodded, "I hear you go by Riley in school, smart choice, but just tell him your full name. He is your godfather- he'll help you."

And now, Riley's final question:

"If you're a pureblood, then am I a half, or a pure?"

It was an important question, so Sirius answered, "I can't tell you right away. But on your thirteenth birthday, you'll wake up looking a lot different. On that day, I want you to go to Gringotts, and request a blood test."

She nodded.
