"I'm telling you, I don't know shit!" I cried. The two investigators and Nate all groaned. At least Nate was here.
"Erica, just tell them for Christ sakes!" Demanded Nate. I rolled my eyes and leaned back in my hospital bed. Apparently they had to make sure I wasn't dying or something. I felt fine.
"Ms. Baird, you need to answer honestly to every question." Said the first investigator.
"Fine." I grumbled. "Charlie was my ex-boyfriend. He abused and stalked me for a while, and then my current boyfriend got a job. He was into dealing and shit. So, one of Charlie's dealers started fighting Jack and Jack had to use self defence, leading in killing Michael. Charlie got pissed, captured us, brought us to Tomorrow, abused us, forced me to do shit with a stranger, I made an ally, I escaped, and here we are now. Happy?" I rolled me eyes.
"And you do know Tomorrow was a massive drug dealing company?" McCartney, the investigator, asked. The other one just took notes.
"Yes, I do." I said, trying to contain my anger.
"And you do know some man, Harry Styles, reported to the police station about your situation?"
"Yes. I warned him when Charlie set me up for a job with him. That was the guy I had to get into my pants." Nate chuckled at my use of words.
"And you know the entire building is now gone? And Charlie is in prison?"
"I fucking know. I was there, fuck." I rolled my eyes for the third time.
"Is she always like this?" McCartney asked Nate.
"Yeah, she's usually worse, actually." He crossed his arms, leaning against the door frame.
"Well, I guess we know everything we need to know." I hope they do, they've been here for a whole fucking hour. "Now, do you have any questions for us?"
"No, I just want to see Jack." I groaned. I haven't seen him yet, and I've been awake for hours. I've been sleeping for three days, and no one bothered to wake me up. I just want to see Jack.
McCartney whipped his head to look at Nate. Nate pursed his lips, shrugging his shoulders.
"No one told her?" McCartney whispered. Nate just shrugged again.
"Told me what?" I exclaimed, sitting up strait. McCartney sighed, realizing he was gonna have to tell me whatever it was. Hopefully it wasn't too bad.
"Do you remember what happened after you escaped?" He asked.
"Well, I remember crying and searching for Jack, but I couldn't find him. But that's cause he was already on his way to the hospital, right? Is he okay?"
"Erica, you know the whole building went up in flames?" He asked, ignoring my questions.
"Yeah, I fucking got that. Can I just see Jack?" I asked, craning my neck to see in the hallway, as if he might be there.
"Erica," He started putting his hand over mine. "Jack never made it out of the building." He said. It took me a few seconds to register what he was saying. But, that can't be true. He promised me he would make it out. He promised me that wouldn't be our last kiss.
"What?" I squeaked after a few seconds of silence.
"I'm sorry." McCartney looked at me with pity.
"There must be some mistake." I shook my head.
"He was no where near the premisses. No one saw him come out, and it's absolutely insane to have survived that explosion." He paused, looking me deep in the eye. "I'm sorry, but he's gone."
I let my mouth hand open, and stared at the spot where the detective once was, as he left the room. After I heard the door shut, I turned to look up at Nate. But just like everyone else, he was gone. And I somehow knew he wasn't coming back.
And that's how my entire world crumbled down.
