Episode: S1 E1: Wolf Moon

A phone rang late that night at the McCall house. It's shrill noise waking up the two residents. "Mom?" Scott asked, rubbing his eyes as he walked to her room.

Melissa was terrified to pick up the ringing device as the hospital's name scrolled across the caller Id. "Mom, you gonna answer it?" Scott asked just as on edge as his mother.

Picking up the phone, she held it up to her ear with trembling hands. "Hello?" "Mom?" A whisper came through the receiver. "Sawyer? What are you doing?" Melissa asked, upset that her daughter called her at- looking over to her alarm clock, three in the morning. "Shhh! They will hear you." Sawyer hissed over the phone and this made Melissa's head jolt up.

"What? Who? Sawyer?" She asked. "They are trying to kill me." Sawyer cried to her mother. Scott's face fell, hearing the terror in his sister's voice. "No baby, no they're not. They are trying to help you." Melissa said calmly over the phone trying not to spook her daughter even more. "No, they came at me mom, they tried to kill me!" Sawyer cried, "come get me. Please." She begged. "Bunny-" "Please mommy?" She begged, her sniffles echoing over the phone.

Melissa sighed as she hung her head. She couldn't help but buckle at her daughter's pleas. "I'm coming just- just give me a few minutes okay?" Melissa asked as Scott looked at his mother, eyebrow cocked. "Okay, I'll stay here." "Where, Sawyer? Where are you?" "I ran, I got away from them. I'm in a closet." Sawyer whispered. "Just stay there okay? Are you okay?" Melissa asked, playing into her daughter's hallucination. "I'm just bleeding on my arm a little bit, but I'm fine." She said. "Okay, bunny, I'm coming, just stay there." Melissa said, climbing out of her bed. "Okay." She said quietly as the call ended.

"What are you going to do?" Scott asked. "I'm going to try to pull your sister out of her hallucination. Would you mind tagging along? I think we both know that she responds to you better." Melissa asked her son, hating to have to ask him to do this.

"Of course mom. Whatever I need to do to help Bunny." Scott told her and Melissa hugged him tight, kissing him on the forehead. "You need to be prepared, she may sound like the same Sawyer we are used to, but her mind is playing tricks on her okay? She may say some strange things or possibly even try to protect you, you are her little brother. Just be prepared okay?" Melissa told her son, shewing him out so that she could get dressed.

Nervousness washed over the girl as she hid in the dark, small room, picking up on the emotions around her. She chewed silently on her finger nails as she waited for her mother. She knew if she truly needed him, the man right outside would protect her. He always would.

Walking into the hospital, Melissa and Scott were met with nervous glances. "Mel? What are you doing here so early?" A nurse called out, a twinge in her voice. "You all can calm down. I know Sawyer is having hallucinations. She called me." Mel said and the nurse physically deflated, the weight lifted off her shoulders.

"Do you know she is missing?" The nurse asked gently. "She told me that she thought you guys were trying to kill her, and that she ran. She is in a closet, and I'm sure I know exactly where she is, but I need you all to let me handle it okay? She is scared and she knows I'm coming." Melissa said, glancing at Scott, who nodded.

"Okay." The nurse agreed, nodding. "Just stay at your station. Is there anything I need to know?" Melissa asked. "Uh, she ripped out her IV, but other than that not that I know of. She was just freaking out screaming that we were going to kill her like we did them. We don't know who "them" are." The nurse told the mother. Melissa nodded. "Okay." She said simply headed down the hall, Scott following behind.
