Focusing on the wolf in front of him, Stiles looked at Derek's arm that was now on the table, wishing he hadn't after the fact. Swallowing the spit that came to his mouth in preparation of himself getting sick, Stiles struggled to speak.
"You know, that really doesn't look like anything some echinacea and a good nights sleep couldn't take care of." The teen boy said as Derek looked up at him. "I don't have that long, and Sully definitely doesn't." Derek growled. "When the infection reaches my heart, it'll kill me. I don't know what happens to her when I die. Stiles, I'm killing my best friend." Derek told him, his green eyes looking directly into the teens brown ones.
Releasing a breath, Stiles spoke. "Positivity juts isn't in your vocabulary, is it? Sawyer has the bite. She'll survive now, right?" "She has to survive the transformation first, Stiles. She's not out of the woods completely. If he doesn't get here with the bullet in time, last resort." Derek breathed out, searching through the drawers.
"Derek, I'm not cutting off your arm!" "If it saves me and Sawyer, yes you are!" Derek growled back.
Finding the saw, Derek placed it down on the table. "Here." He said as he pushed it towards the teen. Stiles grabbed it pulling the trigger slightly as it immediately sprung into action making the boy squeak in surprise. "Oh my god. You can't be serious. What if you bleed to death?" He questioned as he looked back up at Derek. "If it works, I'll heal, and so will Sawyer. It's the only plan I have." Derek told the boy as Stiles hesitantly looked back at the saw.
"Look, I love Sawyer, but I don't know if I can do this." Stiles said. "Why not?" Derek questioned as he tied a tourniquet around his arm. "Well, because of the cutting through the flesh, the sawing of the bone, and especially the blood!" Derek rolled his eyes. "You faint at the sight of blood?" "No but I might at the sight of a chopped off arm!" Stiles hissed.
Derek sighed as he looked down at the table. "Alright, fine. How about this? Either you cut off my arm, or I'm gonna cut off your head." The wolf told the boy and Stiles balanced before remembering he had the upper hand here.
"Okay, you know, I'm so not buying your threats anymore." He stated, but Derek grabbed him by the front of his shirt, dragging the boy across the table to him. "Oh my god! Alright, bought, sold, totally, I'll do it." Stiles stammered as Derek glared at him.
The glare softened as a choking noise came from the wolf, Derek letting go as he leaned over, black blood came spewing out of his mouth, coating the floor. At the same time Sawyer groaned in pain as her eyes screwed up.
"What, what are you doing?" Stiles asked, "Holy god, what the hell is that?" He asked as his eyes screwed up, stomach churning. "It's my body. It's trying to heal its self." Derek panted out. "Well, it's not doing a very good job of it." Stiles stated, trying to keep his own lunch down.
Derek was listening, and only faintly heard Sawyer's heart beat. He could hear it slowing down every second. There was no more time. "Now, you have to do it now." He told the teen. "Look honestly, I don't think I can!" "Just do it! She's dying Stiles!" Derek yelled.
With a Quick Look over to Sawyer, her pale skin that looked deathly white while also somehow being drenched in sweat, he saw how her chest was barely moving. "Okay, okay! Oh my god." Stiles said as he grabbed the saw, holding it up to the wolf's arm. "Alright, here we go." Stiles said as he reved the saw once.
"Stiles?" Scott's voice rang out, and Stiles froze. "Scott?" He asked as said boy rounded the corner to face the scene in front of him. "What the hell are you doing?" Scott asked, his eyes quickly finding his sister laid out on the floor. "She's dying, it was the only way." Derek muttered as his vision swam. Letting out a chuckle, Scott looked at his friend strangely. "You just prevented a lifetime of nightmares." Stiles told him.
"Did you get it?" Derek asked as Scott found the bullet in his pocket, handing it to the wolf. "What are you gonna do with it?" Stiles asked. "I'm gonna- I'm" but before he could finish, Derek passed out, the poison getting ever closer to his heart.
"No! No,no,no!" Scott yelled as he dove for the bullet as it rolled directly into a grate in the floor.
"Derek! Derek? Derek come on. Wake up. Scott, what the hell are we gonna do?" "I don't know! I can't reach it." Scott mumbled as he stretched. "He's not waking up!" Stiles said as he patted Derek's cheeks. "I think he's dying. I think he's dead." Stiles rushed out, his head turning to see Sawyer's body slowly turning a shade blue. "Scott!" Stiles shouted as tears clouded his vision. "Don't kill me for this." Stiles said as he punched Derek in the face, making the wolf gasp awake. "Sawyer?" He asked as he looked around. "She's not good dude." Stiles said as he helped him up. "The bullet, where is it?" Derek asked as Scott handed it to him.
Biting the top off, Derek dumped out an herb like substance onto the table as he grabbed a lighter from his pocket, lighting it aflame. The substance lit, sparking as it soon died out.
Derek scooped it into is hand as she shoved the ashes into the wound. Derek screamed in pain, crumpling to the floor as the boys watched. Their eyes were dancing between Derek and Sawyer. A blue smoke emanated from the wound as they could see the poison being burnt out, until the wound closed over and healed.
Scott's eyes flew over to see her arm had also healed, a new scar on her arm as a reminder. "Bunny?" Scott asked as he kneeled down next to his sister. He didn't hear a heartbeat, her lips were blue, and her skin was barely lukewarm to the touch.
"Bunny!" Scott called out more frantically as Stiles and Derek talked behind him, but his tear filled eyes were trained on his sister. Derek closed his eyes, his heart shattering as he too had realized he could only hear three heartbeats instead of four.
Turning away, Derek went to leave, but he heard something. The faintest thrum of a single heartbeat, then a steady, but slow rhythm, until it evened out into a full even rhythm.
"Sawyer?" Derek asked as he stood behind the boys, his eyes now scanning her body. A single breath was released, and yet everyone held theirs, until her eyes fluttered open.
And their vibrant green color took them all by surprise.
