Chase

I could hear Hailey's heartbeat and breathing evenly, which let me know she was still asleep. I can't even explain how much control I was trying to have when she was telling me of her past. I should get a reward or something.

Thankfully, I had thought ahead and gotten color contacts just in case something happened to make me have any strong emotions. She would be asking a lot of questions if my eyes started changing colors. I didn't think it would be something like this though.

My wolf wanted out.

He wanted to mark her, claim her, and rip apart the male who dared touch and hurt her, but he couldn't. I had barely gotten her to admit she had feelings for me, I couldn't go sharing my biggest secret with her just yet.

Not to mention what she had shared with me, she would be terrified of me. I needed to wait till she trusted me, cared for me, loved me. I sighed as I looked over at the girl sleeping peacefully in my arms. I had already fallen for her.

I was hoping the trip would start to strengthen the mate bond. It was slowly, but surely, getting stronger. I wasn't sure how it was going to work for her.

Did she feel what I feel?

It was extremely uncommon for a high-ranking werewolf to have a human mate, so there was not much known about the mate bond. Not that I was complaining, I couldn't be happier with who I was paired with. I just needed to consult with the elders about any information they had on it.

I decided to get up and take a shower so we could get going as soon as possible. I hoped I could do this without waking my little mate. As I got up she unknowingly tried to pull me back to her. I chuckled lightly, as I knew the mate bond was starting to present itself more than before. I took my shirt off and placed it next to her and she quit reaching. I placed a quick kiss on her forehead before going into the bathroom.

I sighed deeply as I turned on the water and thought, "This girl is going to be the death of me."

Hailey

I heard the shower running as soon as I opened my eyes. I climbed out of bed and opened the door. Behind the glass stood Chase in all his glory.

"Gosh, babe, last night you didn't want a date. Now you're jumping in the shower with me?" he said smugly and I shook my head with a smirk.

"Maybe, I may just be too much for you to handle though," I winked before reaching for the handle and opening the door.

His eyes stared at me in amusement as water dripped down his toned chest before I looked down and—

"Hailey wake up, we gotta go."

"Hailey," I felt Chase shake me and I opened my eyes.

It was a dream..

"What is it? You look like someone just killed your puppy," he joked and I quickly wiped any expression off my face.

Did I really just dream about Chase Willix in the shower? I groaned.

Greatt just great, now I'm dreaming about him too?

I slowly rose up out of bed and he looked at me confused. I just shook my head. "Let me take a quick shower then we can go," I told him as I hurried towards the bathroom.

"Okay, so we've been to Mississippi, Arkansas, Missouri, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, and we are stopped in Tennessee. I don't think we'll make it to ten. Maybe we should just head to Georgia and either stay the night or go home?" I said, looking  between him and the map as he messed with the top on the classic car.
