I rushed into Macy's room at the infirmary. Her heart rate was erratic. Dr. Wells' eyes met mine.

"Dr. Wells, tell me what to do, tell me how to help!" I frantically yelled as I felt everyone's eyes on us.

Chase and his family were outside of the door watching desperately hoping we could stop the labor and save them both.

"Roll her on her left side, this will help slow down contractions. If that works it should buy us enough time to inject her with the Magnesium Sulfate. As you know this will stop the labor, unless it has already accelerated too quickly. It should stop it though as her symptoms only began ten minutes ago," she instructed and I did as she said.

"What happens if we can't stop the labor?" I quietly asked as I watched her inject the medication into the IV drip.

"Then we will inject her with a Corticosteroid. It will help accelerate the lung and brain functions. She's still really early, even for a wolf. The pup will be underdeveloped. The longer we can keep her out of labor the better," she finished her procedure and allowed the rest of the family into the room.

Shelby clung to Macy's side and held her hand. Dr. Wells excused herself and asked me to come to her with any new developments.

"I thought her wolf put her in a coma to stop this from happening?" Olivia whispered causing Andrew to place his hand on his shoulder in an attempt to comfort her.

I shrugged and quietly said, "I believe Dr. Wells will come back with more answers shortly, she wanted to give the medication some time to kick in. If it doesn't begin working she'll have to talk to everyone, Matthew more specifically, about options."

Matthew's eyebrows furrowed and he asked, almost dangerously, "What do you mean, options?"

I fidgeted under the amount of eyes on me, "You should really just talk to Dr. Wells, she knows more than I do.."

Matthew's eyes narrowed at me and his nostrils flared, "No, you know more than you're letting on," he continued and raised his voice, "And you need to tell me NOW!"

Chase growled loudly at him but spoke calmly as he said, "Watch your tone and learn your place, warrior. You answer to my father and I, not the other way around. You will not speak to my mate that way."

Both tempers were flaring and before either could say anything else Macy's eyes shot open and she let out a gasp as her heart rate flatlined. Dr. Wells rushed into the room and other infirmary members ushered everyone but me out of the room. Some pack warriors had to carry Matthew out as he was refusing to leave. The door closed as he was snarling at everyone, seconds from shifting.

And all I could think was, "Please let us be able to keep her alive.."

...

Dr. Wells wearily went to the door and stepped out. Chase's eyes briefly met my sob filled ones as the door closed. As Dr. Wells broke the news I could hear the chaos outside. The door slowly opened after a few minutes. Olivia, Shelby, Alpha Bates, and Chase poured in. All of their eyes met mine, their expressions matching mine. Chase embraced me, inhaling my scent. This calmed him slightly, but even he was teary-eyed.

"Where is Matthew?" I managed to croak out.

"When he got the news he took off. He barely made it outside before he shifted," Alpha Bates explained to me. It was then we heard a sorrowful howl sound from the tree-line.
