3. New Friends

"And here is the music room where our band and orchestra practices. Do you play and instrument Zero?"

"Yes. I can play the cello."

"Cool! I can okay the flute. Hopefully we can get into the orchestra!"

" Do they have auditions or something?"

"Yes auditions are held tomorrow at 3 o'clock. It also determines where you sit."

"Oh ok."

"Don't worry I'm sure you'll get in!"

"Thank you, Yuki."

This made Zero feel good. not that many people thought that he was any good because of his condition. he hopes that they will let him join out of talent and not pity.

"Before I forget the opening ceremony is the day after tomorrow." Yuki said something about a ceremony, meaning all of the new and old students in one huge building.

"Don't worry I will make sure to be near you and I will take you to your classes before mine."

"Thank you. But you don't have to do that you know."

"I know. But a friend won't let others get lost or scared."

"Again, thank you."

Zero felt relieved. He felt happy that he had a friend.

"Well that concludes our tour. If I were you I would start preparing for the auditions tomorrow."

"That's right."

"I'll take you to your dorm."

"Thank you."

'Hmmm what piece should I do for tomorrow? A slow or fast piece? What kind of musicians are they even looking for? Will they even let me in?' All these questions were circling around him as he was practicing.

He decided to do a concerto with complicated rhythms and a lot of vibrato. This piece would show off his speed and sound. It took him about six months to learn and memorize it. Even professionals had a hard time playing it. But he was ready.

The next morning, as he was remembering his way to the practice room, he heard a conversation going on.

"Hey did you hear that there will be a blind kid in school this year?"

"Yeah. Hopefully he won't be any trouble."

This was what he was afraid of. People seeing him as a burden and a list cause. 'One day.' he thought. He will prove these people wrong.

"ZERO!" yelled Yuki.

" Hello Yuki. You don't need to yell."

"I know I'm nervous. I would die if I messed up and just froze."

"I'm sure you'll do great. What kind of piece did you choose?"

"Not telling. It's a surprise."

"Hahaha alright then."

"Ready?"

"As ready as I'll ever be."

Zero took his cello and entered the double doors with Yuki.
