soundtrack; eternal summer - echan
lovin' me - fiftyfifty

With sand stuck in between the crevices of her feet, which were planted firmly underneath the beige crumbs and the wind blowing her loosely tied hair apart, Adelaide sighed in contentment. This entire summer in Los Angeles felt so surreal and now it felt bittersweet. "I can't believe our summer is going to end in less than two week." Her voice battled against the crashing tide.

"I know, we're gonna miss you so much..." Hanna said, to which Minnie nodded in agreement. Her cousins were the only reason she managed to have such a meaningful summer break this year. They had successfully convinced both her aunt and her parents to allow her to travel overseas for a once in a lifetime experience. Knowing how expensive the flight tickets from Malaysia to LA were, Adelaide was sure that her well-off aunt had sponsored at least half of it which she was eternally grateful for.

Tears pooled in her eyes as she hugged them both tightly, "I'll never forget these moments guys, thank you." Her words only caused them both to laugh to themselves, eyeing each other nervously. "Are you going to tell her? Or am I?"

"You tell her!"

"Okay... what's going on?" Adelaide confronted the whispering duo with a suspicious look in her eyes. These two were mischievous as ever, always keeping something up their sleeve.

Hanna began, "We know that you've been so caught up with that mystery boy you've been meeting but you wouldn't even have talked to him if you didn't step out of your comfort zone."

"How's that related to anything...?" Minnie chastised her. "Shush. Just let me finish! Anyways, with that being said aunty thought that it'd be a good idea if you learned to step out of your comfort zone more..."

And that conversation was exactly one that changed Adelaide's life forever. Apparently, the twins had applied for a scholarship to KISS, a prestigious international school in Korea on her behalf and she'd been accepted. Initially, she was extremely hesitant to leave her beloved homeland, food and culture for a new country but her parents had been surprisingly supportive. Watching K-drama's and listening to K-pop was one thing but actually living in Korea was a whole different ballpark- alone at that. Despite this fact, she recalled her parents words to her. "When will you ever get such an opportunity like this again? Yes, it'll be hard but you're tougher. Who knows what life will bring? You make us proud there." Her mom said just as her father cracked a joke. "Just don't miss teh ais too much."

With her parents approval, she shrugged off her nervousness in front of her dorm, which she would be calling home for the next semester and entered the room. Upon entry, she found that her roommate was already happily unpacking her belongings on her right. Cheerily, the girl turned around and waved at Adelaide, "Hi! I'm Kitty! It's so nice to meet you. You must be Adelaide? I chose this side of the room, I hope you don't mind!" Adelaide had never met someone so animated and talkative like Kitty, being an introvert, she knew that it was definitely something she'd have to adjust to.

Nonetheless, she cracked a warm smile. "It's no problem and it's very nice to meet you Kitty! I'm new here, so I hope you'll teach me your ways, if it's not too much to ask." Adelaide shrugged sheepishly, watching as the girl squealed in delight. "Ah! Where do I even start?!"

. . .

Moving at a speed faster than a bullet train, Kitty had somehow managed to catch her up on an entire semester's worth of drama while touring the entire campus grounds. On top of being talkative, Kitty was unabashedly open about the privy details of her social life. "You have to meet Q, Dae and  Minho later at the welcome party!"
