Stepping onto the vibrant green asphalt floor, she scanned the crowded bleachers, the icy autumn wind blew across her creamy linen peplum top and blue jeans causing Adelaide to regret choosing a sleeveless shirt to wear. Since it was just a friendly match between two schools, KISS had decided against hosting it in their indoor arena which Adelaide did the know until she arrived.
Evidently unprepared for the drastic change from the humid heat in Malaysia to the changing seasons in Seoul, she shivered in coldness and yelped as a deep British voice emerged from her side. "Hello, Adelaide."
"Minho! I almost died!" And he chortled satisfaction at her peeved reaction. "Seriously Dede, how are you surviving if your spatial awareness is this bad?" Scowling, she wrapped her arms around her torso weakly to preserve her bodily heat. "Bold of you to think I'm surviving... What are you doing here? I thought you were going for dinner?"
Instinctively Minho took off his thick, army green letterman jacket and bent down to drape it around her exposed shoulders. "I came to wish Q good luck before I left." He spoke without a care in the world- as if he hadn't done anything. "You should really learn to take care of yourself more." At this distance, she averted her eyes away from his muscular arms peeking out the long sleeves of his rolled up twill shirt that creased slightly around the curve of his elbows.
"I'm leaving a part of me here so don't miss me too much," He winked, sending here a salute as he spun around on his heels leaving Adelaide gaping wordlessly. He'd call her by her real name this time. Thankfully, as she allowed the heat of his jacket to warm her, she spotted Dae waving his hand and quickly climbed away from the open air. "You came! Q told me to look out for you in case you decided to show up." Dae smiled widely, extending the signs made to cheer for Q. "We can both be Q's cheerleader's today."
"Lemme take one too." Yuri appeared next to her with Juliana too. "We can share the snacks, if you'll forgive me?" She hopefully handed Adelaide her bribe. Beside her, Dae nudged the girl, prompting her to continue and Yuri sighed audibly. "And I'm sorry for starting that whole thing about you and Minho. We've known each other since way back and I'm just used to teasing him like that."
In retrospect, Adelaide had no issue with Yuri at all, judging by her attitude at dinner she knew that the girl didn't mean to start a fight. Honestly, no one was expecting the conversation to become as heated as it did. "It's fine. I didn't take it to heart. I'm also sorry for making things awkward."
"Don't apologise. I would've done the same. Great! We're friends now yeah?" She asked, more for herself really with a spring in her voice. The amount of self-confidence Yuri radiated was refreshing- like a breath of fresh air in a field of wilting flowers."Where's Florian?" Yuri asked.
"Ask Q. Actually don't, I don't think he wants to know either." Dae grimaced, hoping Yuri would take the message this time. "Anyways, are you going for the after party later?" He turned towards Adelaide. "Yeah, but I'm not staying long. I'm going for church tomorrow."
"Oh no way? Which one?" Dae piqued up in interest. Engaging in small talk seemed to be Dae's specialty as they killed time. It wasn't long until, Adelaide had found out that Dae was very well-connected in the Christian community- despite being Catholic. She supposed he was just very friendly in general. When their conversation stilled, he paused randomly. "Minho's changed a lot since last summer,"
"Minho? What makes you think that?"
"Because of this." He gestured to Minho's oversized jacket on her figure. "He's never done this to anyone before." He remained silent as Adelaide tried to decipher the meaning intertwined behind his statement. "Or maybe I just didn't know him as well as I thought I did." Dae looked away from her just as the game was starting, an unmistakable flicker of sadness residing in the air.
