Humming alongside the energetic song playing on her tiny bluetooth speakers, Adelaide's hand deftly blended the golden specks of eyeshadow on the corner of her eyelids. On the opposite corner, Kitty was on FaceTime, passionately catching up on the school's weekly drama with Yuri.
"I still can't believe you're going as Minho's date tonight! Do you know how big of deal that is?" Yuri gushed from the iPad speakers, also getting ready in her house.
"It's not a date I'm just his unofficial plus one," Adelaide reasoned coolly, keeping her hands steady as she swiped nude-coloured lipstick on.
"This is engagement party is the event of the century and you're going with the bride's son! I think that's a pretty big deal." Yuri immediately replied which caused Kitty to add her input. "Not to mention it's Minho... sassy 'I don't commit to girls' Minho."
Quirking her eyebrows up in the mirror, Adelaide gaze fixed on Kitty's expression, looking for a hint of emotion. It was almost as if she'd forgotten Minho's gigantic crush on her last summer. Perhaps she was finally moving on.
Shrugging, Adelaide smoothened the ends of her dress out. When Yuri found out she was going to be attending the party, she had gone the lengths to make sure to send her an extensive list of appropriate dresses to wear because according to her Korean celebrities were 'extra' when it came to dressing the part. Because she didn't want to break the bank to buy a new dress, she had repurposed her sage green slip dress by crafting a sheer light beige tulle robe with fluffy sleeves over her dress; a crown of carefully hand-sewn golden leaves accentuating her waist.

Back in Malaysia, Adelaide loved thrifting and had done a few minor revamp projects here and there but this was the first time she'd made such major transformations to a dress. Thanks to Yuri, Kitty and Q's helpful input, she had somehow pulled it off.
Lacing her strapped heels up, she took one last look in the mirror to check her appearance. Tucking a flyaway down into her gelled and slicked back up-do, she hummed in satisfaction and grabbed the jacket lying on her chair. Kitty leaned against their open doorway and wagged a finger at her. "Have fun! But don't stay out too late missy!" She laughed at the sight of Kitty's attempt to be strict. "Okay, mom."
Her heels went clickity-clack on the tiled flooring as she found Minho waiting to escort her to his car by the entrance of the girl's dormitories. Raising his head from his polished, black leather shoes he had to double down as he took in her lavish appearance. "This is smart casual huh?"
Reaching out, she swatted him in annoyance. "Thank god Yuri told me to dress well! I can't believe you were going to let me show up in a casual dress."
