Entering M&M agency's office building felt like she was a government official being escorted through five levels of security. Arriving at the hair and makeup room, Sunhee meticulously briefed Adelaide on her tasks and key details for the photoshoot; running through the concepts, outfits and tight schedule for the next few hours.
Despite the busy makeup and hair artists surrounding them, Sunhee spoke eloquently and without pause as if she hadn't already sent Adelaide pages of 'important' things to note.
"Don't worry. You're going to do great!" Sunhee had a habit of making her sentences sound like they were a reassurance to herself.
"Adelaide?" Minho's incredulous voice broke through the business. "What are you doing here?" His question prompted reflection from her. It was strange wasn't it? For ages, she'd always shy away from attracting unwanted attention and deemed herself ordinary- which wasn't a bad predicament. She decided that it suited her just fine to live like everyone else.
Honestly, there were no thoughts, head empty; no reason or rhyme to why she was doing this job. She just did it because she simply, wanted to, and that in itself was more freeing that she'd anticipated.
A woman who looked like she hadn't slept for three days, with a tightly wounded coil of bun on her head groaned softly. Her eyes landed on Adelaide and a flicker of recognition crossed her sunken face, her voice barely perceptible above the din. "Sunhee noona! This is the model you found??" Judging by her dishevelled appearance, this must be Jina- Minho's manager.
"Yeah, doesn't she clean up good?" Unfazed, Sunhee ran her gaze up and down, analysing my styled appearance. To match the funky and soft retro vibes, Adelaide's hair had been straightened with a middle part and similarly, her makeup was simple with only a dark neutral shade of lipstick to highlight her fair features.
"It'll be fine, the designer of the brand only wants to use these photos for a short season," And with that, she chased Adelaide out of the chair and onto the changing room, exclaiming that 'time is money'.
The photoshoot itself had a simple concept, allowing the neon colour clothes and luxury pink purse that seemed impractically small to shine. Adelaide simply followed the directions of the creative director and photographer, allowing them to guide her solo poses.
Despite the tiny mishaps and hiccups here and there, it was surprisingly more fun when she had no expectations of any sort.
When her break time began and Minho took the stage, Adelaide rested alongside Sunhee who was closely monitoring the screen. "You have a natural talent kid," She brightly sent two thumbs up of approval, relieved that her casting was successful. "That being said, have you ever thought of modelling as a career?"
