NEIRA

I WOKE UP to the gentle rays of the morning sun streaming through the curtains, casting a warm glow in our cozy dormitory.

Sabado ngayon at walang pasok. Inaasahan ko na makakapagpahinga kami ngayong araw.

Sana.

As I rubbed the sleep from my eyes, I caught a whiff of something delicious wafting from the kitchen area. Ang bango at mukhang masarap! Curiosity piqued, I followed my nose to find Crystle busy at the stove, donning a bright apron and humming a tune.

"Good morning, Neira," she greeted me with a smile, flipping a pancake with practiced ease. "I thought we could use a special breakfast today."

I couldn't help but smile at the sight of Crystle 's culinary prowess. Marunong pala siyang magluto? Ngayon ko lang nalaman. "You know how to make mornings better, Crystle. Ano ang menu natin ngayon miss chef?"

She gestured towards the table, which was adorned with an array of delectable treats. There were fluffy pancakes stacked high, accompanied by a drizzle of maple syrup and a pat of melting butter. Freshly squeezed orange juice sparkled in glasses, and a plate of assorted fruits added a burst of color to the spread. Ang sarap pala magkaroon ng roommate!

"It's a breakfast feast!" I exclaimed, my stomach growling in anticipation.

We sat down together, enjoying the simple pleasure of sharing a meal and engaging in lighthearted conversation. The aroma of coffee filled the air, mingling with the delightful scent of pancakes. As we dug into the fluffy goodness, a sense of comfort and contentment washed over me. Sa pagkakaalam ko ay I.T student siya pero mukhang culinary student ang skills niya sa pagluluto.

"This is amazing, Crystle," I said between bites. "You truly have a gift in the kitchen."

Crystle blushed modestly. "Oh, it's nothing special. I just enjoy cooking and seeing the smiles it brings."

We continued to savor our breakfast, sipping on freshly brewed coffee and relishing the flavors that danced on our tongues. The morning sun cast a golden hue around us, and laughter filled the air as we shared stories and reminisced about past adventures.

In that moment, the worries and complexities of the world seemed to fade away. It was just Crystle and me, enjoying a blissful moment of tranquility and friendship. These simple morning delights were a reminder of the joy found in the little things and the importance of nurturing our bond amidst the chaos of our detective lives.

As we cleaned up after our delightful breakfast, our phones buzzed simultaneously, indicating an incoming email. I glanced at my phone to see an email from Professor Collins, our esteemed mentor and advisor.

"Crystle, we have an email from Professor Collins," I exclaimed, gesturing for her to check her phone as well.

With a hint of anticipation, Crystle opened the email, her eyes scanning the contents. A moment later, she looked up at me, a mixture of excitement and curiosity in her expression.
