She met Gul in the Budapest airport where they caught their car to the hotel, "You'll meet a executive for a perfume company. He's in town for business and wants to get his product in some of the shots so the magazine agreed. They're looking for a new brand ambassador so that's why he wants to meet you."
"Have you met him before?"
"No, he's new with the company from what I understand. We'll see how this goes. It's meeting and not a promise. There are six different designers being showcased for the layout plus shoes and jewelry. Tonight we'll meet with some of the local team and then start the shoot tomorrow. Dinner with the mayor afterwards, shoot the next day, dinner with the perfume exec, home the day after that. Sound good?"
"Sounds good Gul. Did you ever talk to those two over at Elite"
Gul gave a rather evil chuckle, "I did. They were rather unhappy that you signed with me and not them. They were the ones who sent over the perfume company, they said no harm done."
Eda was working with Ari when Metin joined them for hair, he hugged Eda hello. There was a larger crew for wardrobe and the photographer was a Hungarian. His English was so heavily accented that Eda had difficulty understanding him at first until she figured out that his v's came out as wh's and a few other idiosyncrasies. Once she figured it out she was fine or mostly fine.
They were sitting down for dinner the first night to meet the local crew when Ari picked up her hand, "What's this young Eda? Is it what I think it is? Have you and young Serkan gotten engaged?"
"We got engaged this past weekend as a matter of fact. It was very romantic Ari."
He moved her hand in different directions watching as the gems caught the light, "What is this ring? Tell me."
"The design is called 'Toi et Moi' or You and I and the stones are Serkan and my birthstones. Mine is the Emerald for May and we went with the original August birthstone of Sardonyx. I absolutely love it but then I would have worn a cigar band and still gotten engaged to him."
Ari laughed and pointed to the ring finger of his left hand, "See this? I made a similar comment to Merv years ago and he had them fashioned out of cigar bands only his is gold."
"I love this Ari," they talked about the meaning behind all of his rings. They included the local team sitting near them in the conversation. Gul was at the other end of the table doing business. The following morning Eda was in the chair early and Gul was working on her laptop when Metin walked in.
"One day I might make it in before you Eda."
"You can always hope Metin," smiled Eda, "How have you been?"
Metin launched into a long winded discussion of his health. Eda was shocked that he was so chatty but she wasn't about to comment on it. Gul held on to Eda's ring while she did the shoot. Not that she didn't trust anyone but there really wasn't any place to put the ring. After shooting for six hours they went back to the hotel to change and get ready for dinner. Gul wanted Eda to sit next to the mayor so she did, it was a strange dinner but the mayor and his wife were pleasant company.
Eda called Serkan that evening, "How is Rome?"
"Not bad, better than Armenia that's for sure. How is your shoot going?"
"Aside from having a hard time understanding the photographer? Ernst speaks English but his accent is pretty heavy so I just have trouble here and there otherwise it's going okay. I have dinner tomorrow night with some perfume company, they're looking for a new brand ambassador and Gul thinks that he's considering me. We'll see. I'll be happy to be home day after that."
