Asher

I followed her out onto the darkly lit street.

As soon as the door closed behind us, she rounded on me.

"What is your damage?!"

I had forgotten how cute she was when she was angry. I started smiling and her face grew even angrier.

She moved close enough that her full breasts pressed against my lower ribcage, as she glared up at me.

"How tall are you now?" Her brow furrowed as she sized me up.

"Six two." I cocked a brow at her and grinned at her cuteness, "Trust me, you couldn't take me down if you wanted to."

"You know what?" Her eyes grew wide and she backed away, "I'm too drunk to deal with this shit tonight! I'm going home!"

She turned on her heel and almost fell, but righted herself and began to walk.

"Bree?" I called after her, crossing me arms, "Where are you going?"

"Home!" She snapped without turning to face me.

"Bree, you can't walk! It's at least six miles!" I tried to reason with her.

"Watch me!" She huffed.

"Let me drive you!" I rolled my eyes. She was still the same old, stubborn, little Bree.

"No! You've already ruined my night!" She sat down on the curb at the corner of the block and pulled her heels off.

"I am a grown ass woman! I am fully capable of walking my ass home!" She mumbled to herself, "I just need to take these damn shoes off."

Wow, I hadn't even realized that she was THAT drunk.

Once her shoes were in her hands, she stood and began to march off into the night.

I decided to follow her. If she wouldn't let me drive her ass home, I would at least make sure that she got home okay.

The streets were empty, but that didn't mean anything. She could still hurt herself.

She made it a block and paused, jumping in place and flailing her arms around in anger.

"You must REALLY hate me!" I was about to respond, but then I realized that she was talking to the sky, not me.

"I know I wasn't the best kid! The teen pregnancy proved that! But still! Why are you doing this to me?! I was doing just fine on my own! Why are you bringing him back here NOW?! I must really suck at life!"

I was seriously considering to just pick her ass up and carry her to the fucking car, kicking and screaming.

She began walking again, as complained out loud.

"I thought I was doing well. DC is a good kid!" She paused to think for a second, then continued on again, "NO, DC is a GREAT kid! She does her chores and cleans up after herself... She even gets good grades..."

"I've been good for sixteen years! For Declan! I've made her everything in my life! He's going to take her from me and you know it!" She was flailing her shoe clad hands around, as she walked and complained.

I knew what she was doing. When we were younger, she used to look to the sky and talk to her mother in the heavens... I assumed that was what she was doing it now... It was sad, in a way, but it made her feel closer.

"Of course, she'd go with him willingly too! After everything I've told her?! He's her knight in shining fucking armor!"

"He's going to break my heart again and this time leave me with nothing! I won't even have my kid! I just know it!" She was crying now...
