CHAPTER EIGHT. The Prettiest Mess.
"VICTORIA," A knock thumped against her dark cream door, catching Victoria's attention away from her scattered notebooks all over her large silk bedding. "Can you help me with my hair?" Rowan entered into the dimly lit room with a handful of hair supplies, the accessories practically fumbling out of her arms.Vic huffed, gently nodding her head as she set down the pen that cramped in her hand. Victoria stood up, slugging towards her large brightly shining vanity, grabbing Rowan's hand. She shoved her sister down into the chair, Rowan letting out a faint grunt from the harsh push. "Sorry." Vic couldn't help but giggle, running a hand through her sister's long blonde hair. "Turn on the curling rod." Victoria instructed her younger sister as she began to rummage through her large drawer of hair stock.
"Can I ask you something?" After minutes of silence, Rowan mutters, peering up to her older sister through the clear glass mirror.
"Mhm." Victoria hums, wrapping her freshly cleaned hair around the metal iron.
"Who's Cook?"
Catching Victoria off guard, her eyes expressively widened, her irises boggling. "How do you know who he is?"
"He texts you a lot. Plus, Effy told me about him." Rowan cheekily smirked, chuckling to herself.
"Oh." Victoria mutters. "Yeah, well, he won't be texting me much soon."
"Why?"
"Because of reasons."
"Well, mum and dad want to meet him."
"How do they know about him?" Victoria leans down to Rowan's eye level, her eyelids narrowing.
Rowan's face consumed with redness, blushing from her words. "Sorry." She whispers, playing with her manicured fingers. "I couldn't help it. They were bringing up how they thought you weren't over you know who, so I thought it'd be a good distraction."
Victoria releases her crammed chest with a hefty breath, slowly nodding. "Thanks, then." Victoria continued on attending to her sister's golden locks, her fingers ever so often running through the tight curls. "I'll uh, I'll talk to him — about meeting mum and dad."
"Good — I want to meet him." If on cue, Victoria's silver flip-phone began to start vibrating, surprising the two sisters. As Rowan was closer, she was the one to reach for it. Her hand wrapped around the mobile, reading the recent text Victoria had just received. "Who's Freddie?"
"Shit." Vic huffs, grabbing the phone out of her sister's hand without an answer. The personal message read the time Freddie would be making his arrival at the Graham estate, and how thrilled he was to finally speak to her. Victoria faintly smiled at the message, before throwing her silver phone onto her silk white bed, continuing onto Rowan's hair.
