She stares at me. Her eyes focused on mine. She lifts her chin up.
I give her a firm look. 'I dare you.'
Silence. You can hear us both breathe.
We are still staring at each other. Cate steps forward. A few inches between my face and hers is left. 'Don't tempt me.' Her voice is firm.
I break the stare to casually walk away to the open conservatory doors. I stop in the middle of the doorway to watch over the green valley that Cate calls her garden.
I don't know how long I stood there. But after a while I feel something shake me. 'Hey, you there.' Her voice is worried.
'Yeah, what's up?' I look at her,I feel a bit drowsy. 'You where lost in your toughts I think.' Her voice is normal again. But her eyes tell me a different story.
We walk up to the table and she gets us both a cup of coffee. Plain. 'Thanks.'
'I think we should get your car.' I tell her. 'My car?' she sounds confused.
I giggle at her comment. 'Yeah, your car is still at campus.' I take a sip of my coffee.
'You're right. I have early set dementia.' She dryly says before standing up to grab me a sandwich.
I laugh at her comment. I look at her. She is standing over there. Looking breathtaking. All the things I want to do to her.
I stand up from my chair and make my way over to her. I stop behind her. I take a look over her shoulder. 'What are you making?' I whisper in her ear.
'Sandwiches, we are going eat in the garden.' She says. 'If you want to ofcourse.'
'Ofcourse I do!' My heart skips a beat. She is so adorable. 'The wheater is nice.' I tell her.
I walk up to her couch and grab a blanket. It is a soft blanket. The beige color suits her livingroom well. I walk outside and down the little stairs of her house. I walk a couple of meters on the grass. I look around. This place is perfect. I spread out the blanket and grab a couple of pillows inside and lay them on the blanket.
I sit down and close my eyes to enjoy the sun that shines on my head. 'Can you help me, honey?' Her voice again. I open my eyes and see her standing with her hands full.
I walk towards her and take the stuff out of her hands. 'You could've walked twice.' I tell her. 'Yes, but why walk twice if you have a beautiful girl in your backyard.' She looks at me. 'Who can help me.'
I laugh and put the stuff down. 'Who says I want to help?' I watch her closely. She straightens her back. 'I do.' She looks me in the eye when she tells me that. My stomach is getting funny when her voice is firm like that.
I look away. Mommy issues.
'You know what?' I change the subject. 'What?' She says while eating her sandwich. 'I call this the Blanchett blanket.'
She starts laughing. I laugh with her. Her laugh is amazing. SHE is amazing.
'You are actually quite funny, dear.' She tells me. 'Oh, I know, professor.' My voice is firm.
We are eating, talking and laughing until Anna calls us. 'Miss Blanchett, Andrew is here''
Cate's facial expression changed. She looks angry, but also sad. 'What is -'
She is already on her feet and I could not even finish my sentence. I jump up and follow her.
I try to keep up with her pace, but she is to fast. I walk inside and I see two people staring at me.
'Andrew,' Cate's voice is firm 'what are you doing here?'
'It is my house, Cate.' His voice sounds angry. 'Get the fuck out, before I throw you out.'
