I find myself more drawn to him now. I spent the last two days before this ball with him. Draco was an interesting person; he was also sociopathic. We spent most of our time inside the commons, late at night when no one was around.Usually, between those, we would ignore each other. Being friends with him was harder than thought. He was hot-headed, and he was also a complete gimp. He was jealous; he didn't like my friends, choosing not to even get close to them.
Blood traitors and half-bloods are muggle-borns. People Draco never associated with, part for me. I guess I was a blood traitor to most people. But he defended it by saying that my line was too pure. I was reminded by him daily that I should find a new crowd. I reminded him daily that he needed a raincheck.
"Come on, let me just add one more sparkle," Ella groaned, pulling my face around. She brushed her wand over my arms, the sparkles dancing over me. I pulled away, slipping into my dress.
My stomach twisted into a knot, and my hands quivered. I was more than nervous; it was a feeling you could never describe. I had been to many balls with my mother, shoved into tiny dresses. This felt rather different; this time, my mother wouldn't be pulling me on her arm. People wouldn't ask me if we were sisters; I would be alone.
Well, not completely.
I gazed at myself one last time, making sure I looked just right. My dress danced around me, leaving an effortless sway. Ella lugged me down the stairs, and outside to wear our dates, we waited. Draco stood outside the commons, his hair neatly together. His black and white dress robes, everything screaming daddy's money.
He looked handsome—gorgeous, even.
"Rightie, scrubbed up nice boys," Ella joked, poking Charlie in the side. He nodded excitedly, and compliments rained down upon her.
Draco fought back and complimented me as he stood still. While holding out his arm, he was only staring up at me. We looked at each other, and I wished he would just speak. Draco, though, remained mute. Draco remained silent the entire distance to the hallway.
My heart was racing as I kept looking over at him. If I even exhibited a hint of euphoric excitement, he would appear frightened. Not to brag, but my planning was perfect, and the hall looked beautiful.
We stood at the steps, walking in together. Draco remained silent, his head high. It was frustrating; I didn't even want him as my date. I kept myself from starting an argument; this night was perfect. I was perfect; I made myself seem perfect.
"Isn't it just beautiful, Draco?" I gasped, looking up at the snowy roof. The snowflakes falling and disappearing—it took me a whole month to get Flitwick to enchant it. He hummed, standing with the large crowd.
As the champions walked in, I took notice of their stunning attire. Everyone seemed to be so wealthy and attractive. Hermaniones was no match for my modest attire. She looked like a princess with her grace and elegance. I just almost escaped falling over my dress.
Draco eventually drew me to the waltz. I stepped while grinning and maintaining my balance. He effortlessly raised me by the waist. making a little circle while rotating. If I concentrated, I could almost see his corners rising in a smile. We performed elegant dances fit for a king and queen.
"Who taught you to dance like that? " I inquired, taking a seat next to him. He looked over at me, a sparkle in his eyes.
'Merlin, help me; he's more attractive than before.
"My mother," he smiled fondly, taking a sip of his drink. "She taught me when I was younger, important for wife making, he said."
"Wife making, huh? I loved to see the day that happened."I laughed loudly, my head falling back. It was a genius laugh, one he had probably never seen before.
