"Keep running. Must stay moving. Never let your guard down. Don't trust anyone you meet."

These were things my mother had said to me, moments before she died. She had gotten eaten and torn apart limb by limb by a group of walkers. I had found her body on the front porch after coming back from a run. Her lifeless body lay there as I stared at her in utter grief. She was the only person left alive in my family. That happened when this shit all started, now it's just me.

At least until I met my boyfriend Jackson. He's a tall white male, with black glasses, he had brown wavy hair slicked black, and always has a smile on his face. We met in our old town. We had lived in a place called 'Terminus' it had great walls and great food, even great people! but we had to leave early on in the apocalypse leaving all our old friends. We've been out for about 11 months. Jack and I.

I run through the woods as Jack pushes me forward, running from a herd of zombies. We came to a store just a block or two down from where we started running. We ran closer and closer to the store as the walkers followed not far behind. I opened the convenience store door as Jack ran in checking to make sure it was clear. I heard some rustling so I made sure cost was clear then closed the door behind me.

"Did you hear that?" Jack spoke softly

Jack walks forward towards the sound he heard. I look around for anything we could use to hold the walkers off, to my right was a pipe on the ground so I bent down and I grabbed the metal pipe up, and used it as a barrier to hold the door close. Putting it through the handlebar and down around, I turn around and see that Jackson has disappeared, I pause trying to look around the shelves, scared, I call out his name quietly.

"Jackson?"

I hear no sound whatsoever.

Seconds later, I feel a rough calloused hand cover my mouth, I struggle as I try pushing the handoff over my mouth. The hidden figure dragged me by my face and torso, over to the back of the store and dropped me on the ground. I landed straight on my face and started dripping blood. And I think I may have broken my nose. I look up at the man, and I look at him with confusion.

He's a pretty tall man, about 5'10. He's got a scruffy beard his hair a mid-length about to his ears, he's wearing a black vest and has a crossbow slung over his shoulder. He walks around the corner and shoots a walker in the head.

I look to my right and see Jack, he's knocked out on the ground. I cried out to him.

"Oh my god, JACK!"

"Shut the fuck up" the man's voice comes from behind.

"What the fuck did you do?!" I uttered back in response.

"Shut y'er mouth up before I shoot you"

He pointed his crossbow at me. Scared I slowly got up and started crying out to him in curses and confusion.

"Who the fuck do you think you are?! Do you know who you're dealing with!?" I continued screaming at him. I don't know what came over me, but I was outraged someone had hurt jack.

He slowly looked around. Finally, he let go of the trigger on the crossbow, letting out an arrow that shot right into my arm. I fell back at the recoil of the arrow. Dazed I started seeing stars. It slowly got darker and darker as I had passed out.

🤍🤍🤍

I slightly open my eyes. I have a splitting headache but I try to take in my surroundings to see where I am, There's a cover over my head, so I can't see much, I can't move my arms. It's like they are tied up. Is he going to kill me? If so why hasn't he already?

I put my head back down to feel that the car has stopped moving. Followed by a rattling sound of what sounds like a fence. One of the car doors was opened and I heard footsteps slowly fading away, luckily I could hear what was going on, but there was not one man, another man could be heard talking to the first male.

"Found 'em in the convenient store down the road"

"Bring them in and we'll check them out, and see if they are dangerous..put them in your cell block, you can keep a watch"

"The fuck I got to?" he paused "They don't seem dangerous, they got knocked out in a few minutes"

"Just bring them in Daryl"

Daryl. The name struck a bell in my head. I held onto that name, to use it for anything to my knowledge.

The man opened my door grabbing me by my legs and shoulders.

Soon after what seemed like forever of walking and being carried around, I got set down in a soft cushioning place, he lifted the cloth off my forehead. I was sweating from being under it for so long.

Panting, I looked around. "Where's Jack" I questioned with anger.

"The cell downstairs" the scruffy man had said

I didn't say another word I just stared at him. He wasn't looking at me, he was watching his hands as he fondled with the cloth that was just on top of my head. After a good minute of this, he looked up at me, with just his eyes, his head stayed down in the same position, he has these ocean blue eyes, so bright that they were more prominent than the rest of his features. I quickly looked away. He then came up to me with a pocket knife.

"What the fuck are you doing?" I asked as he came closer with the knife. He turned me to the side to get ahold of my wrists. He had clipped the zip tie that was holding my wrists together. He got up and walked to the cell door. Slowly closing it behind him as he walked to the right and down the stairs.

I rubbed my wrist where the zip tie had been rubbing against, as my wrists had gotten irritated from it. I looked around. There were other voices downstairs talking. In the cell I was put in, there was just a bed and a table. I slowly lifted myself onto the bed with my arms, and soon after collapsing.

I looked at my right arm to see a big cut, I was bleeding. It wasn't bad to the point where I would bleed out, but it was still a lot of blood. I tried using the strength in my left hand to lift me. I realized it was from that guy shooting me with his crossbow, the same guy who just brought me here. Right into this very cell.

Then this very nice-looking lady had come up to the cell.

"Hi sweetie," she said with a smile.

I looked up at her startled by her voice I looked at her with a straight face. Her smile quickly faded.

"If you need anything I'm just the cell over. We're all going to bed now so I think you should get some rest"

I kept looking at her with a straight face, fondling with my fingernails.

"Okay..um- goodnight," The woman said in a nurturing voice.

She said as she walked to the left. I heard a cell door open and then creaked as it was closed. The candlelight went out.

I can't sleep. They expect me to sleep here after they kidnap me? Fuck no.

I slowly watched as the last bit of daylight grew small. It was quiet now, you could hear crickets chirping from outside the walls.

I yawned, tired. I put my full body weight on the prison bed. And leaned my head against the grey hard wall. I was in a ball, scared that something would happen.

I ended up falling asleep. In the corner of the room.
