Two Months Later
Aella
Its been about 2 months since my new life began. I can honestly say that this is the dream. Cheryl has been so kind letting me stay with her, she lets me help her with the goats, cows and chickens. I've even met her grandson Caine, to be honest Caine's easy on the eyes, you can tell Cheryl and him are related. He's got light blonde hair and blue eyes, and guessing by his size spending all his time outdoors has given him a bulky figure. He's got this whole cowboy look going for him a short neatly trimmed beard, cowboy hat, and Levi jeans tucked over boots. Every time he comes over to see one of the animals he always throws those handsome smiles of his my way. I'm not interested in him but it's nice to just kinda talk and joke freely with someone around my age, well close enough to it. I found out he was 31, older than I originally thought. That first week Caine asked if I was interested in working at his animal clinic since I told him I was into helping animals, and since then I've been working on as a veterinary technician 4 days out the week, we get a lot of farm animals and some dogs here and there but the visits I love the most are the horses and cows. More often than not a rancher would call about a sick horse, me and him would usually attend those calls and see what's up. I never imagined that I would've enjoyed this new beginning so much. I still think about Enzo once in awhile but it's worse at nights when I go to bed and I dream about him making love to me, I'd wake up sweating and close to orgasm.
Luca told me to only call once a week now since Enzo almost got a hold of my location from that one phone call from Melanie, as a result I've kept all calls to 2 minutes minimum.
My little beanie is growing so fast my stomach has a little shape now, I kinda look like I'm bloated but I'm so excited for the next few months. I've gone to the hospital for a check up and it turns out I'm 16 weeks into my pregnancy, most likely from the first time me and Enzo had sex. I have no regrets though, I got to get my little beanie out of it.
I'm sitting on the porch just enjoying the breeze, the heavenly aroma of blueberry muffins wafted from the kitchen throughout the open windows. Cheryl's a mean baker, she makes the best pastries ever and right now she's got some muffins in the oven, I can't wait to stuff my face with a few.
As I'm rocking in my chair I see a black dodge ram pull in, oh Cain's here I wonder what brings him by.
He jumps out and heads straight to me.
"Why hello there Ella, how are you doing this fine afternoon?" He tips his cowboy hat, his southern twang like music to my soul. Every time he talks my ears hang onto every word, his voice is so smooth and addicting. I shake myself don't go there Aella you've been broken once.
"I'm doing alright Caine, are you here to see Cheryl?" I asked. At that moment Cheryl comes out with a plate of muffins making my mouth water.
"Oh, Caine I didn't realize you were here, come here and grab a muffin." She earnestly insisted, Cheryl is the type of grandma that loves to spoil her grandkid with baked goods, hey I'm not complaining because I love her baked goods.
"I'm alright Mimi." He said shaking his head, it seems like today is the day where he's able to resist her sweets but me I reach over and pluck one from the tray.
"Don't mind if I do." Cheryl beams happily at me while Caine gives me a soft smile.
"What brings you here peanut?" The nickname makes his cheeks turn red from embarrassment.
" I thought I told you you to stop calling me that." He tries to be stern but a smile breaks out on his lips. I stare at his lips, wow I didn't know his lips were so full so tempting.
"Boy, you've been my peanut since the day you came out your Ma, and you'll be my peanut till the day I die." I snap out of my thoughts when Caine comes over and sits next to Cheryl on the bench.
"I know, I'm just messing with you Mimi you know I love you." He squeezes her into a hug.
" I love you too, now you better stop or you'll squeeze me to death" Just watching these two together makes me realize how much I've wished for a grandma growing up, someone to love me or hold me. I had mom but it just wasn't the same.
" Actually I'm here to see if Ella wanted to come with me to the annual county fair. Today's the last day they'll be having it." He said giving me a hopeful look with his baby blues.
"Uhhm I'm not sure." I squeaked out, don't get me wrong I'd love to go but I don't want to give him any ideas. Of course he's a handsome man but I don't think I'll ever be ready for a relationship, and anyways I'm pregnant and they both don't know yet.
"Come on you've gotta go and try those elephant ears and funnel cakes. They don't make them like that anywhere else." Cheryl gives me a pleading look. Elephant ears do sound good right now, my craving for sweets has gone through the roof these last couple weeks. My little beanie will be a sugar addict just like me.
"Alright I guess I'll go." I said finally giving in, I look down and see I'm wearing a flower print summer dress and some sandals, this will do.
"That's great, let's get going" Caine said sounding eager. I get up from my chair and walk towards him. Cheryl looks at us with a cheeky smile.
"You kids go have fun now, don't do anything I wouldn't do."
"Cheryl!" I gasped, shocked that she'd say that it almost sounds like she wants something to happen between us. Caine just shakes his head with a full blown grin on his face.
"Mimi you're too funny." He said.
As we walk to his truck I can't help but blurt out.
"We're going as friends."Shit, of course we're going as friends it's not like he said that it would be a date. Caine turns and gives me one of his panty dropping smiles.
"Of course Ella, we'll go as friends I wouldn't have it be anything else." Now what the hell is that supposed to mean. Don't get me wrong I'm not ready to love again but before meeting Enzo I could see myself settling down with someone like Caine.
He opens the door for me, making unwanted memories flash through my mind.
"Thank you." I give him a tight smile, not wanting him to see how the gesture affected me, he's just being a gentleman that's all. After he gets in we make our way to the fair.
