A Stars Never Born

“Broadcasting Live! The famous singer, Elmer Higgins has been arrested for murder earlier this morning!” Says, the broadcaster in the T.V. as Janet makes her cup of coffee. Almost dropping her mug, when she heard that her phone ringing, it’s the police. She was asked to go to the station as requested by the Suspect ELMER. Scared, she hurriedly put on a new set of clothes to go to the police station. She got out of her house and started to walk to the police station where he is supposed to be according to the news broadcast. Whilst walking she is thinking as to why Elmer wants to talk to her, maybe because of what she saw before? She is getting scared again thinking about it. Since she had known him ever since they were together in the singing industry. She started remembering…

It was two years ago when they first met, she was his new manager. Elmer was a kind and nice towards her. Always bringing her gifts, making her letters and poems. Eventually they started dating… A couple months have passed and she noticed something about Elmer’s strange behavior. He was getting more aggressive and aggravated when he hears about other famous singers doing well in their career. Then she started hearing rumors that he is killing his fellow singers that has become popular than him or more successful. She was getting scared of him so she decided to follow him one day, to find out if the rumors are true about him. At night she followed him to an exclusive restaurant. She saw him going to a well-dressed woman and started kissing heron her lips. She was getting angry at this point but put her feeling aside as she wants to know if; what everyone is saying about him is true. When Elmer was done eating with his other woman they decided to walk outside for some fresh air. When they went outside, Janet followed them. They soon arrived in the streets where there are less people, they were getting close to a motel, Janet is fearing the worst, that her boyfriend is cheating on her, but that feeling changed when she saw that Elmer took the woman in an alley. She followed again to see why he did that. When she got to a position where she can see what they were doing she was scared. She saw Elmer Murdering the woman. He slashed her throat and stabbed her repeatedly in her stomach. Blood gushing out of her mouth begging for mercy, Elmer was not affected by her plea and just smiled at her. He stabbed her again in the neck and killed her. Janet is frightened by what she saw, she wants to call the police but is too scared to even move, she just watched a woman get murdered and thought to herself that she might be next if she made a sound. Elmer dragged the woman’s body towards him, and grabbed a different knife from his pocket. Its handle is dark black and the blade is colored red. He stabbed the woman again but this time in her mouth. He placed his mouth on the other hand of the knife and started to suck her blood. Janet wanted to vomit from the scene but she resisted. After Elmer was done, he started singing; his voice has become more angelic and demonic at the same time. Janet is getting more scared, she does not know what to do she cannot call the police and tell them what happened they would call her crazy. So, she quietly left the alley and returned to their home.
The next couple of days went by like nothing happened with Elmer being happy again. The police soon found the body of the woman dumped on a river. They identified her, she was the best singer in their neighborhood Carol Higgins. She was still affected by what she saw that night, she could not look at him at the eye. She could not eat and talk to him. A couple more days later she left him.
 
Now, back to the present she is at the entrance of the station. Trying not to tremble from her shakiness. The police officer told her that Elmer is on the other room and showed her the knife that was used to murder the person. It was the same knife from before the black handle and red blade.  As she is being escorted to the room she is shaking from fear. The officer opened the door and she saw Him, sitting on the chair chained on the table. The officer told her she is safe, to calm her nerves. She went in the room and the officer left to give them Privacy. Elmer started talking to her, about that one night when she followed him. She is surprised to hear that, she thought he didn’t knew. He said again, that he was observing her when they first met; he thought she was a good singer that’s why he dated her but he fell in love with her. He was dumbfounded when she left him and started to stalk her. Getting scared of the situation she shouted that he is lying. Elmer smirked at her, laughed and looked at her eyes, he can see the fear and by god he enjoys it. Janet doesn’t want to talk to him anymore she wanted to open to open the door but its locked. Panicking, she struggles to open it, she heard chains from behind her; she turned around and saw that Elmer is gone. She saw saliva dripping from the ceiling and saw that him. He pounced on her and grabbed her jaw, pulling both her hands up and throwing her on the floor. The police saw what was happening in the cameras, and are now running to their room. Elmer took his knife from his pocket, Janet is surprised to see that its still the same knife. Elmer saw her confusion with a grin on his face he explained to her what happened.

He was never a singer, he can’t sing a single a note. His colleagues made fun of him for it. He was full of hatred, he despised them. He thought that if he could sing he would be respected. He got surgery for his vocal chords, so that at least he can sing, but it didn’t work; he instead became a mute. His colleagues joked about him even more and made him quit his job.
It was raining, he was walking outside when suddenly a strange figure approached him. It gave him the knife, it promised him great fortune if he used it. It told him that the knife can steal the voices of other people but it costs them their lives. Filled with hatred he accepted the knife, he asked what was the price but it left before it answered. Later that day at night, he went back to his industry. He looked for anyone who mistreated him. He then saw the main person who started mocking him. He charged at him, and stabbing his gut. The man quickly punches him and tried to run away. He chased him down, because of the wound he kept up with him easily. He tackled him onto the floor and stabbed him repeatedly on the chest. The man cried and screamed for help but no one was around, he died. After Elmer killed him, he did what was instructed to him b y the mysterious figure. He stabbed the man in the mouth and started sucking the end of the knife. Doing saw made his eyes go red and necks veins popping out. Done doing the deed, he can talk again. He was feeling immense euphoria, killing the man who mocked him and getting his voice back.
He did not stop there, he killed a lot of famous singers and got their voice and soon made himself rich and famous. Janet is scared for her life, hearing what Elmer did so can become famous. After Elmer told her everything he uttered words that made Janet Tremble.
“Now that you know my secret to success, its better for me to kill you. Isn’t it?”
The police officers are at the doors and are trying to open it. Janet tried to scream for help but Elmer slashed her to the throat. Caressing her face before stabbing her again in the stomach. Elmer left her to bleed on the floor, he broke down the door and ran through the officers in the station with screams of agony alongside him. Janet feels cold, numb from the pain. She cried her last tear, and breathed her last breath. Closing her eyes and never opened them again.
