Josuke lay on the couch in his home, playing video games as Tomoko vacuumed the house, preparing it before she left for a trip for work.
There was a sharp knock on the door and Josuke called out for his mom, "mom! There's someone at the door!"
When there was no response from Tomoko, Josuke shakily stood from the couch, pausing his game.
He grabbed the cane he was using for balance while his ankle and ribs healed and hobbled over to the door, opening it to see a dishevelled and exhausted looking Yumiko on the other side.
"You look like death," Josuke said out loud, as he stared at Yumiko.
"Good morning to you as well Josuke," Yumiko grumbled.
"What happened?" Josuke asked, letting Yumiko inside and staring at the bag she dragged behind her, "and what's with the bag?"
"Two words; baby fever," Yumiko hissed.
"Gee Yu, don't you think we're a little too young?" Josuke asked, rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly.
"Not me dumbass, the other Kakyoins," Yumiko replied, "Cerise and Noriaki decided they really want to have kids now and I'm stuck with no sleep."
"Oh, so what are you doing here?"
Yumiko dropped her bag and turned to Josuke, "your mom asked me to watch over you during her trip, help you at school, bring back homework, stuff like that in exchange for a place to stay," she explained.
"Oh! You're here, good," Tomoko said as she unplugged the vacuum, "let me show you around and show you your room, then you can nap for a bit."
A few hours later, the house was silent, Tomoko had left for the airport leaving just Josuke and Yumiko.
Josuke hobbled up the short stairs to the guest room where Yumiko slept and quietly opened the door.
She laid on her stomach, her hair strewn about the bed as her head rested on her folded arms.
Josuke stepped in the room and moved over the large window across from him, opening the curtains and letting the sunlight in.
Yumiko mumbled to herself as she rolled over onto her side and looked at Josuke, annoyance on her face.
"Good morning sleeping beauty," Josuke chuckled.
"What are you doing?" Yumiko groaned.
"Mom left a list for you to read," Josuke replied, handing her a small piece of paper after Yumiko had sat up in bed.
"It's mostly just some chores," Yumiko mumbled, rubbing her eyes.
"I need help with meds too, mom wrote that all down as well," he said.
"Alright, so why did you wake me up?"
"It's too quiet," Josuke mumbled before hobbling out of the room.
Yumiko rolled her eyes with a small chuckle as she climbed out of bed.
"You look like an old man."
"I feel like an old man."
"You need one of those stair chairs."
Josuke rolled his eyes as he slowly climbed down the stairs. He was surprised when Yumiko ducked under his arm and helped him down the stairs, lifting him to take the weight off of his foot.
"Thanks," he mumbled.
"No problem, just helping when I can," Yumiko replied.
Josuke smiled, sitting down on the couch.
