Kenzie's POV

Maddi's constantly gone. She says that she's looking for someone, but she won't tell us who. Another person moved in a few floors below. It's Michael, the boy I ran into a few days ago.

"Hey, Michael, I'm going to get coffee with Calum. You wanna come?" I call through his open window.

"No, it's okay. You guys go ahead." He says in his deep voice. I shiver slightly at the sound of it. It's too comforting, like I'd imagine a mother's voice is to a newborn child. It's creepy.

"Alright." I grab Calum by the arm and we head off.

Michael's POV

Maddi's near. I can sense her. I can't risk going out in fear that she'll see me. I don't know where she is, but I can feel her presence.

A shadow keeps passing by my window. It's the shadow of someone very tall, so it couldn't be Maddi, but it could possibly be Ashton. I study the shadow as it passes again. No, it couldn't be Ashton. It's too skinny.

I gather up the courage to step outside. "Are you lost?" I ask rather rudely.

"Actually, yes." The boy says. He turns around, awkward on his long legs. His dark brown hair is swept up into a quiff, and his sharp jawline gives him a deadly look. He's attractive, I have to admit, but in a dangerous way.

"I'm new here, and-" He pauses. "Michael?" He asks. It's the boy from my parting, the one who was staring at Maddi. But, he looks much different now.

I furrow my eyebrows. "Wha-"

"How did you get up from Hell?" He asks. "Oh my God, you've changed! Your hair is red instead of white, and your eyes aren't blue anymore!" He studies me closely. "They're green." He decides before stepping back. "I'm Luke, by the way."

"Uh, hi, Luke. You've changed, too." I grin. "I like the new hairdo."

He touches his hair, as if just remembering that it's there. "Oh, uh, thanks."

His eyes have changed, too. Instead of the light, airy blue that they once were, they're now a dark blue. A dangerous, lustful color.

"So, why are you here?" We ask at the same time.

Luke laughs. "I was cast out. I'm a fallen angel now, too."

I decide not to ask why. "But, how did you get into the mortal world?" I ask.

Luke shrugs. "I just snuck through the gates when that Ashton guy wasn't looking. I tripped on the stairs a few times, to be honest."

I laugh. "You have to change into your mortal form, you know." I say.

Luke blinks. "What?"

"You're still in your fallen angel form." I point out.

He looks down. "Oh." He closes his eyes eyes in concentration, and his hair fades to dirty blonde. When he opens his eyes, they're still dark blue.

"Better?" He asks. I nod. My fallen angel appearance is black hair and dark brown eyes.

"Do you have a place to stay?" I ask. Pursing his lips, he shakes his head. I notice a dimple pop up and a small ring through his bottom lip.

"You can stay with me, it you want." I tell him.

He meets my eyes. "Really?" He asks.

"Of course." I laugh. I open my door all of the way and invite him in dramatically.

"I have two bedrooms, but one of them is just piled with random shit. I guess I'll find a place for it in my bedroom."

He nods. "Alright."
