"Okay so," Garcia started "tell me about this date you had this week."
You chuckled at her moving eyebrows, the anticipation was dripping off her face. It's been three days since you went on your date and since you, well, had your last phone call with Aaron. The team remained in California during those days to solve the case. You heard this morning that the UnSub was in custody so they would be getting back by this afternoon.
"It was actually pretty fun. He was charming and funny." You explained, putting the file on your desk.
"What did you do?"
"We went to the bar where we met and had a couple of drinks and then we went dancing. He's actually a pretty good dancer as well. Well he knew how to put his hips to use." You smirked, thinking back to that moment.
"Ohh, tell me more please, pretty please." Garcia whined. You laughed at her response.
"Nothing juicy happened Pen. It was just drinks and a few dances. He asked me out again though, so we're seeing each other again tomorrow night."
"Y/N Y/L/N, where is all this suddenly coming from?" She held the back of your hand against your forehead, as if she was checking your temperature. "What this?" You asked confusedly.
"This willingness to go on dates! In all the months, nearly a year that I've known you you have not been on a single date. Not once. And now you're going on second dates?"
"It's just a guy I met in a bar. Nothing special. But he's friendly."
"Right, of course."
"At least my desk duty is over come Monday. Can't wait to get back out there with the team. I missed them." You explained, taking a stroll to the kitchen to pour yourself a cup of coffee.
"I can imagine you missed one person in particular." Garcia snickered from behind you.
"Oh Penelope, please let it go. Is this your wildest fantasy?" You asked with a raised eyebrow. Ever since she got the idea that you and Hotch were into each other she has not let it go. It was so annoying to you, more specifically because she probably wasn't wrong. You hadn't heard much from Hotch since that last phone call. You had texted back and forth a couple of times but nothing major or very interesting, just checking in with each other. Sometimes you wondered how it could be that he was so passionate with you in bed, or that night on the phone and then he's so distant with you at other times. This really didn't help the fact that you sometimes still thought he was just in it for the sex. You probably weren't gonna find out either if you were starting to date someone else. Aaron and you never discussed anything that was happening between the both of you so you didn't even have to worry about it, but still. It played on your mind.
"It's one of my many fantasies yes. I just love to see my friends happy" she whined, "and I can sense that you guys mean that to each other."
You rolled your eyes and went back to your desk, having decided in silence that you were gonna finish up most of the report so Hotch wouldn't have to stay late after the case.
"I have an idea!" Garcia yelped, storming out of the kitchen and running over to you. Well, running was a lot, since those high heels really took her tempo down a notch.
"Oh god" you moaned. Garcia's ideas were always... interesting. Especially after a long work day. "I say we all go out to dinner tonight. Just the team. Does that not sound so lovely!" She squeaked.
"Penelope, the team just got back from a long case. I'm sure they're all tired and don't-"
"Emily and JJ are in. They're checking in with the guys on the jet." She said, holding up her phone screen to show Emily's text: 'oooh, count me and JJ in. We'll convince the guys.'
