Author's Note:

Here's the very first part of my Lost Books miniseries! So excited to start sharing these with you all. ❤️

For the purposes of this story, I am going to refer to (+Parent) and Step-(Parent) as just Mom and Dad, for the sake of ease. I won't refer to either of them as your bio parent or stepparent, so you can decide the role of each in your own imagination. Just remember that either Mom or Dad is technically a stepparent, but it's your choice to decide which. I hope that makes sense!

Also, I 100% made everything up that is about to take place in the first section of this chapter. I have no idea if the name of Seb's new clients actually exists or not, and I'm too afraid to google it to find out. So, have fun with that!

This story takes place between the engagement and the wedding.

"Okay, but for real... Do you think they'd send us free products since you're designing their retail website?" you giggle, wiping the tears from your eyes.

Sebastian snorts, his face tinged pink as he browses through the catalog of sex toys, lingerie, adult movies, and other mature novelties that his new clients - The Forbidden Fruitstand - sell from their small business in Zuzu City. "I never expect a gratuity, especially from businesses that are just starting out. What, you think we need to invest in a comically large dildo? Or a pair of hot pink fuzzy handcuffs?"

Sebastian always preferred helping small businesses over the larger corporations and chain stores. He always refused to be a part of the corporate rat race, and he wanted to help get smaller names out there. He was never particularly picky about what kind of business his clients ran - he even designed a beautiful pastel-themed website for a local bakery a few years ago. All that mattered to him was that they weren't shitty customers, and that he got his paycheck. Especially since saving up for the wedding, Sebastian's standards have become even more lax. Sebastian had just accepted this job a few days ago, and the catalog arrived in the mail this morning. The two of you have been sitting on the couch together, listening to some of your mutual favorite music, and perusing the shop's selection.

You take the catalog from his hands, flipping back a few pages. "Well, no, but I was thinking that something like this," you point to a specific item that would be equally beneficial to your more intimate activities, "might be interesting to try out."

Sebastian's eyes widen slightly, his eyebrows raising in surprise. "I guess I wouldn't be opposed..."

You plop the booklet back into his lap, leaning in to kiss his cheek. "Just a thought. Maybe we can support their business and make a few purchases once their website is up and running?"

He gives you a familiar smirk as he tosses the magazine onto the couch beside him, causing your heart to beat a little harder. He wraps his arms around you, his fingertips tracing the skin of your exposed outer thighs. His grip tightens around your legs, pulling you onto his lap in a straddling position. He grabs your chin and tilts your head to the side, exposing your neck. "I like the way you think," he murmurs against your ear.

Your body begins to tingle as he pulls you towards his lips. Just before you fully connect, your phone begins to ring at full volume. Your shoulders slump, your lips forming into a pout. Shit, they said they would call hours ago! They had to choose right now?

"Do you want me to call them back later?" you groan.

"Go ahead," Sebastian chuckles. "You've been expecting this call all day. I'll still be here when you get back."
