Phoenix's POV
"This is just getting annoying now." I say as my friend Tara Davis-Woodhall and I watch the scene in front of us unfold.
The USA Track & Field people have put on a training camp type thing for all of us racing for the United States so we can get to know each other and work on the relay teams.
The training camp is taking place at the University of Pennsylvania's stadium in Philadelphia.
We leave for Berlin in a few days for the World Championships.
Right now Sha'Carri Richardson is trying to get the first handoff in the 4x100 right, but she hasn't gotten it right all damn day.
"We're gonna miss the baseball game tonight at this rate." I say.
Myself, Isobel, and 38 of our friends on the USA Track & Field team are going to the Phillies v Orioles game tonight at the Phillies stadium.
Sansa, Inês, Ava, and Maisie are with us in Philly, but they're going on a double date.
Cara and Luna are with Yasmijn in the Netherlands and Demi and Myah are with Kiyana in Jamaica.
"Yeah this is getting Annoying." Tara says then Sha'Carri drops the baton again so I cover Tara's ears.
"GOD DAMMIT." I shout after Sha'Carri drops the baton in the handoff for the umpteenth time. "IT'S NOT THAT FUCKING HARD."
After I shout I remove my hands from Tara's ears then I look at the relay coach.
"Take me off the 4x100 relay or take off Miss Richardson cause I am not dealing with this bitch dropping the fucking baton and fucking up my damn chances at a medal." I say then I turn around and head over to my bag, sit down, and take off my spikes since it's time to go.
"She can't be serious." I hear one of the relay coaches say.
"Uh no she is serious." My friend Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone says. "You all better decide who you value more on the relay teams."
"Hey." I hear Sansa say from behind me so I tilt my head back.
"Yeah?" I say then Sansa hands me a piece of paper so I look at it.
"I'll give you the tickets at the hotel." Sansa says.
"Alright." I say then I hand the paper back to Sansa.
Once Sansa has the paper, I take off my spikes, put them in their protective bag, put the protective bag in my duffel bag, then I put on my Birkenstocks, zip up my bag, and stand up with my bag in my hand.
"What's going on down there?" Tara says then I look where she's looking.
"Why is Isobel crying?" I mumble as I see two older white dudes from USA Track & Field talking to Isobel.
