Phoenix's POV
"You're really busy tonight." My friend Abby Steiner says as I finish tying my red spikes.
"Yeah I'm surprised they put these two races on the same night." I say as I stand up.
Tonight's the penultimate night of competition.
Penultimate means second to last.
During tonight's competition I'm running the 4x100 meter relay then about thirty minutes after the relay ends, I'll be running in the 400 Meter Finals.
Yasmijn and Kiyana are doing the same thing I'm doing.
"I guess cause they didn't think anybody in the 400 would be in the 4x100 and vice versa." Talitha says as we start warming up.
"Yeah." I say. "But they coulda planned ahead since me, Yasmijn, and Kiyana have been doing so well since we turned pro."
"You can say dominant." Twanisha Terry says
"Well I didn't wanna be rude." I say with a smile then we continue warming up.
After warming up for 45 minutes, we're told to head to the staging area so I follow my teammates to the staging area and wait to be called out.
As we're waiting, I look at the two papers on the wall that concern our team.
"Good luck hug." Twanisha Terry says then she hugs me, Talitha, and Abby as the other relay teams are introduced.
When our relay team is introduced the four of us head out onto the track, pose for the cameras then we head to our respective start positions.
My starting position is a little bit into the curve that connect the back stretch and the home stretch and I'm on the part of the curve that leads into the homestretch.
Once at my spot I stand in my lane at my starting spot then I wait.
A minute later the starting gun goes off so I watch Talitha sprint around the first curve and hand off to Abby then I watch Abby sprint towards the woman we call TeeTee.
