Aiden sat in the corner of his American Lit classroom, right next to the window. He had his headphones on as he starred out the window. Thinking about random things. Mostly what he would do for dinner.

He felt a light tap on his shoulder,

He looked over with a glare, meeting eyes with Peter. He quickly retracted his glare as he took his headphones off.

"Oh, hey." Aiden said, giving a quick and small smile.

"Sorry, looked like you were deep into thought." Peter apologized, giving an awkward chuckle.

"It wasn't anything important." Aiden said, giving a soft smile.

There was an awkward pause

Aiden looked around, seeing people discussing their projects. Which reminded him about theirs

"Oh shit, I almost forgot." Aiden pulled out his notebook

He threw the notebook onto Peter's desk, Peter looked at the various titles of books. All of which he assumed were Stephen King books. He recognized IT, because he heard they were making a movie of it. He hated clowns though, so he didn't plan on seeing it.

"We aren't reading IT, are we?" Peter asked, trying to mask his nervousness.

"Why? Afraid of clowns?" Aiden chuckled

"No! Just- already read it." Peter lied, which Aiden saw right through as he gave an unbelieving "uh-huh."

"I've always wanted to read IT, can't afford it. Or I totally would."

Peter's eyes panned down to a title circled in pencil that read: ᴛʜᴇ ʙᴏᴅʏ.

"The Body?' Peter repeated the title

Aiden nodded,

"It's supposed to be really good. Have you watched 'Stand By Me'"?

Peter shook his head no,

"Hm, well it's a lot like that."

"Sounds cool!" Peter said with a nod. Aiden could ask him to read The Iliad and Peter would agree.

"It is, It's about this kid that goes missing. And this other group of kids go looking for his body on the train tracks..."

They discussed more of the project, how they could make a poster for it, which was one of the requirements.

The bell rang shortly after as they packed up. Aiden went to flip his headphones back on, but Peter was still talking to him. He didn't expect the conversation to continue, but he went with it.

Peter continued giving ideas about the poster and Aiden gave details about the book that could help as they walked out of the class and into the hallway.
