Keeping God's word in your heart
Psalm 40:7-8
NLT
7 Then I said, “Look, I have come.
As is written about me in the Scriptures:
8 I take joy in doing your will, my God,
for your instructions are written on my heart.”Psalm 40:7-8
NKJV
7 Then I said, “Behold, I come;
In the scroll of the book it is written of me.
8 I delight to do Your will, O my God,
And Your law is within my heartWhat does it mean to have God's word in your heart?
It means that we value, cherish and care about God's word. It's easy for something, someone and somewhere to be on your mind but something to be in your heart has a deeper sense.
It's not just occasionally thinking about it or it coming to mind but it's valuing the significance of something. You'll put people in your heart who you love above others and you'll keep a place in your heart that means more to you than anything else.
Today I challenge you to stop and reflect. Ask yourself whether you value God's word or not. Do you treasure it? Do you ponder and often reflect on it? Do you care what it says?
If not I want you to make the active decision to value God's word. To value the words God gave you. His messages, His letters, His comforts and instructions to you so you may know Him more and know what He has to say to you.
