"This is truly fascinating."

"Fascinating?" I swallow down my fill of sweet Skittles and look away from my laptop screen to gawk at Halen next to me in bed, intensely watching TLC's My Strange Addiction, "Halen, the woman is eating her dead husbands ashes."

"That is precisely why it is so intriguing." He plops a Skittle onto his tongue, not taking his eyes off of the show as he talks to me, "Mere' months ago, the box of charred dust she carries around was a grown man. Yet, she sees no issue in eating his ground bones. She doesn't think twice. The psychological damage that his death has inflicted on her is extreme. It's made her to do something so poetic. She is making him one with her. It displays the beauty of grief."

"Poetic? Beauty? She's eating him and then shitting him down the toilet." I toss a hand up, "She's a cannibal!"

"Cannibalism is not technically illegal, Priscilla." He looks at me now, "It is only illegal if you murder someone to eat them, and in that case, the crime is the killing, not the meal. Cannibalism exists in nature. In crabs, chimpanzees, sharks, insects of many kinds, even snakes. People only think cannibalism is morally wrong because it is not in our nature or our norm, and from the human lens of it, the idea of eating another person is barbaric because we can only imagine someone doing it by force."

"Do you just know everything?" I can't help but smile.

"No." He answers me seriously. "But, I prefer to look at the facts of things. My scientific knowledge benefits that."

"I couldn't tell." I say sarcastically. I tear my eyes off of him and continue watching TV.

"Alright. Think about it this way." Backtracking, he gestures toward the woman on the screen with a gentle nod of his head. "She was so in love with him, he was such a generous, kind, and caring lover, that... she wants to devour his bones. She can feel his love so strongly, even in death, that it drives her to lick his ashes from her fingertips. That is not poetic to you?"

I sigh, "I suppose it is. You'd have to be crazy in love to do something like that..." But, then I laugh, "Only you could make me doubt the morality of cannibalism. No doubt because you're one yourself."

"For the last time, when I said 'ate' my twin, it was an expression. Do I need to explain to you how fetus absorption works?" He glares at me.

"No thanks." I grab the remote and click off of of the episode.

"Hey. I wanted to see the end of that." He complains with a shocked look toward me, "Put it back."

"No, no, no. You need an episode that won't be inspiration for your poetry journal. This show is meant to be shocking. And if this doesn't shock you, then I'll be convinced nothing does."
