"Fine. If we're doing this your way, then we're at least thinking shit through."
Dusty trinkets clatter to the edges of Priscilla's desk as Blue clears the space to make room for a map of New York. Already marked and inked with the shaded indentations of the landscape and the highways, he snaps the cap off of a red sharpie and adds to the scribbly pile.
"Instead of running around aimlessly, allow me to show you what her headspace has been like."
A spike of anxiousness builds like a bubble in my throat waiting to pop. I approach the table cautiously and watch, building my courage one breath at a time.
"Lovers Valley is here." Blue traces the outline of our city and plants and 'x' on, "The Manor, here. We're Northside, in the hills. The receipt you found, the Six Swans club? Southside. All the way down here. Lowest point of Lovers Valley in the entertainment district. Mostly underground. Bars, strip clubs, theaters, and restaurants. As far as I can tell, it's where she seems to go the most. That lounge has a luxury dress-code and she's always coming home dressed to the nines with lavish gifts or gourmet dishes leftover from an expensive dinner-"
"Whoever she meets there, she spends the evening with out on the town." I conclude.
He shrugs and takes pause for contemplation, but decides to agree with me, "More or less, I gather. The hotels she films at with these men though, are not down there. They vary. I only know of two. Like I mentioned before, she's quiet about what she does, but if she's drunk enough, she'll brag to me or Santana in the hopes of making us jealous. She's haughty these days."
The more I hear, the stranger I feel. This is not my Priscilla. Not even a little.
"One is a Hilton all the way in Syracuse." He scoffs, widening his eyes with concern, "I don't know what would possess her to agree to drive two hours away for anyone let alone a stranger, but it's not unlike her to roam these days. Seeing as she comes back in cabs most of the time, it's safe to assume the men drive her wherever is most convenient for them. The other is a motel Northeast of Lovers Valley somewhere in uh... Alderdale? Never heard of-"
"Alderdale?" A current of remembrance; Deja Vu, rocks me closer to the table and my stomach flips. I think back to the time where the memories belong, and though it pains me, sort through the noise as Priscilla would say, to find the truth. I drag my finger over the map, muttering under my breath, "Lover's Valley. Bellrock. Alderdale. Fulton. Syracuse."
