Did you submit my project?" I said as I jumped on his couch and turned on the television. I waited for him to respond but he didn't so I asked again.
"My project?" I changed my position so I could face him.
Namjoon was right behind me. His fingers travelled to the nape of his neck and he gave me a sheepish smile. I knew instantly that he had forgotten.
"You forgot it, didn't you?"
"It wasn't anything urgent? He said.
"Does it even matter now?" I turned myself back and faced the television. Namjoon put his hands on my shoulder and leaned down towards the right side of my face.
"I will submit it tomorrow. Promise."
"Just leave it now. "
He walked around the couch and stood right in front of me. His tall figure completely blocked my view of the television.
"Please move." I requested. He folded his knees and sat down.
"I am sorry. I will do it tomorrow."
I stared into his eyes.
"You know how particular I am about my work and you still forgot." I explained
"I said I am sorry."
"It's ok just leave it. I will do it on my own tomorrow." I said, clearly annoyed.
"You are making a big deal out of it." He remarked.
"Because it is a big deal for me." I argued.
"It's just an project. I said I will submit it tomorrow."
"You know I hate it when I submit work late. I never ask you to do anything and one time I do you. " I paused. " You don't even do it."
"Ok now, you are overreacting" He commented.
I did not expect him to say that.
"I am overreacting?" I questioned.
"It's just an project. I just forgot today and I said I will do your work tomorrow. You don't have to sulk over that so much "
"I am not overreacting." I said calmly.
"You are." He stated.
I wanted to say so much but words barely escaped my lips. He stood up and sat on the couch. He picked up the remote.
"What do you want to watch?'
"Nothing." I whispered. He played an episode of our favourite show
I stood up and went to the washroom.
Did we just have a fight? He is so mad at me. I was overreacting ,wasn't I? It's just an project. JUST an assignment. I should say sorry. He is so mad at me.
I came back from the washroom. He was busy enjoying our favourite sitcom.
"I am sorry."
"It's okay, you don't have to apologise."
His eyes were still fixed on the television .
"You are mad at me. I am so sorry." I cried out.
Namjoon was concerned now. He grabbed the remote and paused the show.
"Who said I am mad at you?"
"You are. I am really sorry."
"Why would I be mad at you?' Namjoon asked.
"I shouldn't have overreacted. It's all my fault. " I began to weep.
"What are you talking about?" He placed his hands on my cheeks. He began to wipe my tears with his palm.
"I am sorry"
"What are you even apologising for? He raised his voice which made me cry even more.
"Please don't be mad at me." I sobbed, hardly able to get words out of my mouth.
"I am not mad at you. " He wrapped his hand around my head and gave me a warm hug.
"It's me who should apologise. You did not overreact. I should have been more careful. I should have submitted the project on time."
"I- don't b- mad a- me." I said barely able to form proper sentences as tears flowed on my cheeks.
"Hey look at me now and listen. " He put his hands on cheek softly and turned my face so we could make eye contact.
"You don't have to say sorry every time. Sometimes I act like a total jerk and you have every right to be mad at me."
He wiped the tears off my face.
"I am sorry I shouldn't have acted as a jerk." I said nothing.
"I shouldn't have said you overreacted, that was stupid of me."
"Not stupid." I finally smiled "Look at the smile. The only thing that is beautiful is your ugly face."
I looked at him and gave him the most 'No-you-didn't' expression.
"Can't hide from the truth" Namjoon said nonchalantly.
"You are a mean boy, joonie."
"I know, I know." He said boastfully as if it was a brag.
"Just shut up now" I said.
"Make me."
