Pt 2

They pushed me out of the room so I was just watching from the window
Dr Hendrix: April push 1 mg of midazolam
I stood watching from outside and within a minute of the medication, the convulsions finally died down to small twitching before coming to a stop.
Dr Hendrix then came outside to speak to us.
Dr Hendrix: We're gonna take him up to CT to see what's going on
David: could it just be cause by his epilepsy.
Dr Hendrix: It could but because meningitis can cause swelling of the brain, we just need to be safe than sorry
While they took him to CT, I wondered around the hospital eventually ending up on the balcony getting some fresh air.

I went back to James' room and April brought him back down. I see Dr Abrams waiting to speak. I know it's not good. I know he is head of neurology
Dr Abrams: The results of his CT show slight swelling in his brain which is caused by the meningitis. I believe this is what caused the seizure. We pushed some medication to reduce it so now we just wait. I'll be back in an hour to take him back up to CT to make sure we brought the swelling down.

I went for a walk and then went down to James's room where he still laid heavy under sedation. An hour later April came in to take more blood then Dr Abrams came back to take him to CT. While James was in CT I went to find Sheryl
David: Hey babe
Sheryl: Hey. How is he?
David: not good his brain was swelling so they gave him medication to bring it down
Sheryl: fuck sake. I'll be there after I've done my rounds
David: alright the doctors here now so I'll speak to you later

I then went back into James' room. After 20 minutes he was bought back to the room.
Dr Abrams: I put a rush on the results so should receive them soon
David: Thank you. How long till he wakes up?
Dr Abrams: Should be a few hours yet
David: Okay

Within a couple hours, I heard James groan.

James Pov
David: Hey buddy
Who said that. I looked around the room but everything was blurry and I felt so confused.
James: D-David
David: Hey I know you must be confused but that's because of the medicine it should go away in a minute.
David must have seen the confused look on my face
David: How you feeling?
James: Tired
David: That's okay kiddo. Im just going to get the doctors to tell them your awake.
James: Mhm
Dr Hendrix and April walked in with David.
April: How you feeling
James: Tired
Dr Hendrix: That's normal kiddo
They then began to talk to David.

David pov
Dr Hendrix: The results of the blood test show that he's responding well to the antibiotics we just need to wait it out.
David: That's good right?
April: Yeah it's better than we expected
Dr Hendrix: He sure is a fighter
Sheryl then walked in
David: hey baby
Sheryl: how is he?
Dr Hendrix: he's doing good.
David: Hey kiddo look who's here
James: Hi Sheryl
Sheryl: Hey trouble
This made James laugh. It was nice hearing his laugh it was so infectious.
The visit must have tired James out as he almost instantly fell back to sleep.

15 mins later dr Abrams walks in
Dr Abrams: I have the results of the Ct and the swelling has gone down which means he responded well to the medication which I am happy about.
David: So any seizures will be due to the epilepsy?
Dr Abrams: yeah
David: Okay
Dr Abrams: I'll leave yous to it
We then decided to call it a day. James was asleep. Sheryl went home to the kids and I stayed and slept on the chair. Nurses came to check James vitals through out the night. They hadn't gotten worse and had been improving slightly there was still a while to go.

The next day
8 am
James pov
I woke up and David was still asleep. Jordan and Cory walked in.
Jordan: hey trouble
James: Cory. Jordan. What are you guys doing here
Cory: Sheryl told us you were in here so we got the train down this morning
Jordan: how you feeling?
James: better
Cory: that's good. David?
He didn't move.
James: let him sleep. This the first time he slept.
Cory: he hasn't slept?
James: I don't think so. How's Ackley?
Cory: everyone misses you. Especially mr bell
James: I'll come back in the half term
They just nodded their head. We heard David groan.
Jordan: morning sunshine
David: shut up i just woke up
Jordan: damn someone woke up with an attitude
David: now I see where he gets it from
Jordan: i mean what can I say
I just laughed at their stupidness.
David: hey bud how you feel?
James: better.
Dr Hendrix and April walked in
Dr Hendrix: how we doing today little man?
James: good
April: we're just gonna check your vitals and take your blood.
I saw him get a little nervous
David: it will be the same little scratch as last time
Donte: scared
Jordan: it's okay. Don't be a wuss
James: mhm
April took his blood.
April: all done. Well done superman. You were so brave. You were way braver than when i take David or Liams blood
I rolled my eyes and everyone laughed
David: thanks April
Dr Hendrix: vitals look good
They got paged and left and Sheryl walked in
Sheryl: they said that as long as he keeps improving he should be out end of the week.
David: you hear that bud?
I turned to him and he was just staring out the door. He weren't even blinking but his face was twitching slightly.
Jordan: what's going on?
David: he's having an absent seizure.
James then started blinking.
David: you okay bud?
James: yeah. Can I get something to eat?
Sheryl: sure what do you want?
James: er just chips please
Cory: we'll get you some
James: thank you

We all went outside
David: do you think this will affect when he's released?
Sheryl: it shouldn't do bu-
We were interrupted by beeping coming from machines in James' room. We rushed in to see him seizing. April pushed some medication and then seizing began to slow down. She paged Dr Abrams.
Dr Abrams: i wanna do a CT to confirm that his brain isn't swelling again
David: okay.
James got taken up for the CT and was brought back.
Dr Abrams: the CT was clear so it looks to have just been epileptic seizures
David: okay

I went back into the room and James was fighting his sleep
Sheryl: you okay sweetie
James: sleep
David: go on then bud you can sleep
He didn't need to be told twice.

The rest of the week not much happened. He responded well too the antibiotics. He's only had a few seizures. No more than usual anyways
