Lapis was shoved forcefully against the wall, flinching as the taller girl loomed over her. Smirking, the bully seized Lapis' bag from her and ripped it open, spilling the contents on the floor.
"Hmm, what do we have here? Some school books," - the school books were thrown across the corridor, pages flying everywhere - "some pencils" - the pencils were crushed" - "some money - why thank you, Lapis!"
Lapis clenched her fist in anger. "That's my dinner money, give it back!"
Jasper - the bully - smiled evilly. "You want it back? Come and get it!" Jasper lifted the money high in the air, taunting the shorter girl to jump and get it.
Lapis wasn't falling for that trick, though. She glared at Jasper until the taller of the two left, knocking Lapis into the floor as she went.
Lapis had just dragged herself into a sitting position when Peridot, Lapis' girlfriend, rushed round the corner. When she saw Lapis, she hurried over. "Oh, god, Lapis - what happened?"
"Nothing, I just slipped -"
"You can't fall over and end up with a bloody lip and your books halfway across the corridor!"
Lapis mumbled something that sounded like: "yes I can", and Peridot pulled her gently to her feet.
"Come on, we're going to see matron, and then we'll talk to the headteacher."
"What? Why?"
"Look, I know Jasper is bullying you and-"
"No she's-" Lapis started to protest, but Peridot silenced her with a look only she can pull off.
Peridot pulled her into a gentle hug, careful not to hurt Lapis. "I've been really worried about you, you know."
Feeling heat rise to her face, Lapis hid her head and hugged Peridot back.
Pulling back, Peridot said: "now let's get you to matron, and yes, I'll come back for your bag."
