Bruce Wayne was an American activist and crimefighter. He is best known for being the true identity of the Caped Crusader himself, Batman.

Early life:

Wayne was born Bruce Thomas Wayne on October 13th 1932 in Gotham City. He was a descendant of one of the city's three founding families.

When he was a teenager, his parents were murdered by criminals and he trained himself to fight crime in order to avenge them.

In his earliest crimefighting days, he found that nothing scares a criminal away like the shape and shadow of a huge bat.

So he fashioned himself a bat costume, cape and cowl and called himself Batman.

While crimefighting one day, Wayne met an acrobat named Dick Grayson who had also lost his parents to crime.

Wayne found Grayson's flexibility handy and made him his first young ward and sidekick, Robin the Boy Wonder.

Career:

Batman and Robin were known to all as the Dynamic Duo or the Caped Crusaders.

They also had brief collaborations with the legendary crimefighting trio the Three Warriors.

Wayne was also the founder and head of the famous philanthropic Wayne Foundation. The fame of the foundation was known all over the world.

The purpose of the foundation was to have its own way of fighting crime and reforming criminals more easily than prison.

Aside from that, Wayne dedicated most of his life to fighting crime as Batman in Gotham City and a similar town, Arkham.

However, he was a mentor to young Dick Grayson, who later became a businessman and half of the successful duo Sam & Robin (with Sam Pan of the Three Warriors).

"I always saw the Warriors as wonderful crimefighters. They were quite the helping hands. The last thing I expected was for my young ward to fall for a spunky green uniformed teenager and immediately form a musical duo with her. Ordinarily, I'd say connecting with the opposite sex would severely impair our crimefighting, but I'm extremely proud of Dick for doing just that because of how successful he's become" said Wayne in 1988.

After Grayson was murdered in 1999, Wayne put his crimefighting off for two years. The duo was in a rough place in the 80s and had only become friends for so long.

"Dick and I had literally just made up after years of fighting. I wish that could have lasted longer, but it can't because he's been murdered. I'll never forgive myself for not coming in to rescue him" said Wayne in 2000.

Later life and death:

Wayne retired from crimefighting in 2010 as he was aging.

He remained friends with many of the people he'd rescued, including the 1960s folk duo Chad & Jeremy.

In fact, for years, Wayne lived up the road from Chad Stuart in Sun Valley Idaho and frequently met up with him in grocery stores.

Wayne passed away on June 7th 2017 after a short battle with leukemia. He was 85 years old.

He is still remembered, however, as the Caped Crusader, whose legacy won't be going away any time soon.
