Chapter 3The Fall
"It takes away a lot of the thrill of killing yourself when people are looking for you and you're disappointing them, because it is a lot of fun when you're out there killing yourself."
―Anthony Kiedis,Scar Tissue
That quote was one that Wen Qing had read when flipping through a generic type music magazine, which was a hack job trying to copy Rolling Stones. That quote was the same quote that inspired her to tell her dad about a way to rid the world of the burdensome Lan Wangji. Afterall, the boy seemed to be a non-stop disappointment to all around him with the exception of Cheng Liu .
Wen Qing chuckled at the gullible little puppy dog, who Wangji could make jump to at his every whim.
Sadly, although that fact was true, it was Wangji who seemed to be bogged down with having to please Cheng Liu even if it was an artificial or dishonest way of pleasing her. He feigned interest as he felt Cheng Liu served better as an unwanted girlfriend than his unwanted loneliness served him. At least someone was happy in Wangji's company and this thought of his made his existence bearable despite his misery.
The misery and feigning to be happy with his existence was even more pallable when faced with even a glimpse of Wei Wuxian. Therefore, when his breath came out huskily when he greeted Wei, Wen Qing and Liu took note.

Wuxian's smile displayed on his face as he happily greeted Wangji.
Wei Ying always knew how to build up his walls so no one could see inside. He had seen Cheng Liu's and Wangji's hands being held together before Lan Zhan jerked away from Liu.
Wei Ying supposed it was to save his feelings and not to throw their relationship in his face. Wei couldn't be more wrong.
The only feeling Wangji was feeling lately about Liu's and his relationship was shame. Due to trying to force a romantic relationship, Lan Wangji was beginning to see the real Cheng Liu. He no longer adored her or thought she was wonderful as he did in the past. It was much easier seeing Liu that way when she felt like his sibling. That feeling was dissipating as well as the need to be Liu's friend. With the new found romance came a newfound resentment towards Cheng Liu from Wangji.
Wei Wuxian's next movement caught the three by surprise. Wei threw his arms around Cheng Liu in a friendly embrace.
"Are you okay?" Wei Ying's voice was laced with concern for Liu. After all, the girl had a knife to her throat not long ago. Not to ignore the fact that her dad's multiple affairs had come at the forefront and made headlines in daily newspapers.
Wei Ying had experienced having parents with a strained marriage, mostly because of not lack of love but their difference in opinions. Whatever it was, Wei Wuxian had faced a rough time handling himself.
Wei pushed Liu back, still holding to her shoulders. "I've tried to call but you're probably not feeling up to talking."
"Wangji and I have been busy lately."
Despite Wei Ying's being a genuine friend showing concern, Cheng Liu wanted it known with no uncertain terms that Wangji belonged to her. It was then that Liu took Wangji's hand back into hers not caring that Wei Ying may be hurt. As far as Liu was concerned, Wei Ying had stolen her property in Wangji when they had seen each other. She was reclaiming what she felt rightfully belonged to her.
