When I get to the restaurant, I could barely breathe from being so nervous. Get it together, Tally. You've got this. The dining room is completely full, and I can't find Ryder at any of the tables as I'm giving the host my name.
"This way, ma'am. Mr. Daniels has reserved a private dining room for the evening."
Private?
I follow the host and in seconds, the loud chatter is gone and I'm walking down a quiet hallway. When we get to the door, the host knocks once before opening it. "Your guest, Mr. Daniels."
When I step in the room, the lights are dim and there's a single table in the middle of the room with a single rose in a vase.
Ryder stands up and comes over to me.
"Thank you," he says to the host as he takes my hand.
The man leaves without a word, solely doing what Ryder told him to do. Straight and to the point. With my hand in his, Ryder leads me over to the table and pulls the chair out for me. I sit down and there's a bottle of expensive wine on the table.
"You look absolutely stunning. I'm glad you came."
"Thank you. This place is really nice."
"Only the best for you, sweetheart. Would you like some wine?"
"Yes, please. I hope you don't mind me saying, but it seems like you're used to doing this."
"I am. However, I only do this for the women who deserve it."
"And you think I deserve it?"
"I've seen you work your ass off at the bar. Along with men groping you against your will. You're the most deserving woman I've ever met."
As we drank and talked, the chemistry between us grows. He makes me laugh and when I talk, his eyes never leave mine. The quietness of the room brings out the romantic feeling.
As the night continues, Ryder asks me about past relationships.
"I've had two relationships in my life. I work so much that I don't really have time for kissing. I work at night so going on dates is hard."
"Don't you miss it though?"
"Miss what?"
"Sex."
"I suppose sometimes, but like I said, my work hours are so long that most of the time I barely have enough energy to even think about it," I shrug.
"That's a shame. A woman like you deserves to be pleasured every night."
"I suppose so."
"You are not as easy as I thought you were."
Now that really pissed me off. "So, you brought me here because you thought I'd drop to my knees for you?"
He shook his head. "I brought you here because I want to talk. You being the way that you are only makes me sure that you're right for what I have to offer."
"Which is?"
"I want to offer you money in exchange for your company."
"What?"
"I'm curious to know what you're thinking right now."
"You think I'm a stripper or something?"
The only answer I got was a chuckle.
"If I knew I was going to be made a fool of, I would've gone to work and talked to a drunk asshole."
I stand up to leave and Ryder's laughing stopped. I'm almost to the door when he grabs my hand.
"I'm sorry for making you embarrassed, Tally. It was not my intention. I laughed because your first thought was that I think you're a stripper."
"Well, you clearly do. You want to pay me for sex."
"I said I want to pay you for your company. Not necessarily just sex, Tally."
"It doesn't?"
"No. Please sit and let me explain."
"Fine." I went back over to the table and flopped on the chair, looking at him with piercing eyes.
"Being more specific, I want to provide you with financial support in exchange for your time whether if it's a business dinner or a weekend trip."
"What you're saying is, you want to be my sugar daddy?"
"Yes, Tally."
I never thought I'd be in such a situation, yet here I am. Ryder is asking me to be his sugar baby.
