Ryder leads me upstairs and even though I feel angry, I feel relieved to be with him. Ryder's house is huge and something I could really get used to staying in, if he would allow it.
"How are you feeling?"
I sighed and slowly slid my clothes down my body. "Tired, I suppose."
"I'm glad you called me, Tally."
"Me too. Thank you for letting me come over. I didn't really want to tell my roommate. She overreacts to literally everything you can possibly think of."
"She cares about you, Tally. That's why she acts like that. You should probably tell her tomorrow."
"No, I'll call her tonight. I need to get it done and over with."
"Does she know about us?"
"No. I tried to tell her, but she told me I shouldn't be doing this."
"Why?"
"Because you're older and she thinks it's creepy that you're into me. She's overprotective."
"You can call her afterwards."
After he stripped me of my clothes and gently washed my hair, I looked at him. "Why are you looking at me like that?"
"I'm not helpless, Ryder. I can do this myself."
He shook his head. "You need to be pampered tonight, love."
Once I finished showering, Ryder handed me a towel and smiled. "I could get used to this."
"Get used to what?"
"You in my bathroom."
I couldn't help but to blush. "Me too, Ryder."
"I made some dinner if you'd like before you leave."
"For me?"
"For us."
"What is it?"
"Spaghetti with my mother's homemade Alfredo sauce."
"That sounds nice."
"Good. Get changed and meet me in the kitchen."
Once I was fully dressed, I went downstairs and sat down as he poured two glasses of wine and handed me a plate. "Bonn apatite."
After the delicious meal, I grabbed my phone and called Kate.
"Hey girl, what's up?"
"Hey."
"What's wrong?"
"Just a rough day at work and I wanted to tell you I won't be home tonight."
"Where will you be?"
"I'm fine, Kate. Just a crazy customer. I'm staying with a friend."
"Who?"
"I'm at Ryder's house."
"The old guy that I specifically told you not to speak to? What the hell is wrong with you? What's his address?"
"I'm Kate, Jess. Really, I am."
"You've been seeing him. Haven't you?"
"I..."
"You know what? Forget it. Do whatever the fuck you want, Tally."
She hung up and I sighed. Ryder came into the living room and sat next to me. "Did you talk to her?"
"Yes."
"How'd it go?"
"Bad. I don't want to talk about it."
"I'm sorry, love."
"It's fine."
"I'm just glad you're here, Tally."
"Me too."
"How about we sleep in my bed tonight?"
