Against All Odds || Ryeji FF

Chapter 14

"Wooyoung and I can cast our spells from here." Yeonjun informed the two as they set up a diagram on the floor.

It revealed a view of the fight that's happening just outside the establishment. It can allow them to interact with the outside world without them being physically there.

"Alright, I guess we'll have front row seats for the action." Yuna commented as she and Ryujin went outside, hiding from the angels and the demon stealthily.

They hid behind some cars parked along the road. The pair watched as Lia shot her arrows towards the demon with Yeji protecting the other two.

"I'll go and sabotage the demon while you... do whatever you can do." The shapeshifter planned and transformed quickly into a small, inconspicuous bird. She flew off into the direction of the fight.

'Be careful' Ryujin said telepathically as she also went closer to the action. The devil's daughter maneuvered slowly towards the action, careful not to throw attention to herself.

She saw Lia dodge a fiery attack from the demon that would've burned a permanent scar. She also saw charms being casted onto the angels.

"Looks like Yeonjun is protecting them." She planned on using her wings to send her sharp feathers towards the demon but it would be risky.

As she was planning on how to get unnoticed, a sudden puff of yellow cloud surrounded her. It slowly turned her body see through.

"I've cast an invisibility spell on you." Ryujin heard Wooyoung's voice ring in her ear. She nodded and let her wings spread. She set up her wings to attack and in one fail swoop, sent dagger-like feathers towards the demon.

The attack went unnoticed by the demon since the feathers were also invincible. It let out a pained cry as it frantically searched for the attacker.

Ryujin could see the familiar small bird, pecking at the demon to distract it as arrows rained from Lia's bow. She joined the brigade of projectiles as she continued hurdling her feathers towards it.

Being under constant fire from its enemies, the demon then summoned out its own wings. From black smoke, two charred-like bat wings formed and surrounded itself with it.

In a blink of an eye, the demon swiftly spread open its wings causing every projectile to fire back at the shooters. Ryujin quickly protected herself with her own wings while Lia skillfully dogged her raining arrows.

Yuna, on the other hand, was sent flying since she was only a little avian and couldn't withstand the powerful gust of wind.

The demon then got ready to cast another attack when green translucent chains appeared cuffed to its hands. The chains abruptly stopped whatever the demon was casting.

Ryujin then had the idea of casting her purple flames towards the demon but it would again be risky as the angels could spot it.

Seeing an opening, Yeji then transformed into her angelic state. Her white, holy wings began protruding out as she drew out her rapier.

Chaeryeong also copied Yeji's actions, releasing her true form. Her wings weren't as big as the cat-eyed angel's but were still as glorious. She then drew out her own greatsword, a ssangsudo.

The two readied themselves to charge at the unholy beast. With Yeji's mark, they flew with great speed towards the demon, Lia providing backup for the two.

Just as the pair was close, the demon broke free of the chains and ducked last second from the angels' advances. It then summoned a barrage of black, smoke-like projectiles towards the angels.
