"Castiel!" His older brothers voice bellows through the house, he doesn't know what he's done but he knows he's going to pay for it. "Ah Cassie" lucifer grins, not a normal grin, an evil grin that splits his face in two and makes cas' blood run cold. "Yes lucifer?" Cas asks hoping to avoid a beating at any cost. "Our father has went away for the weekend, leaving me in charge" he smirks "and I noticed you haven't done any of your chores yet" he adds his smirk getting more sinister by the minute, Cas has been hiding in his room all day hoping to avoid his family.
He starts prowling towards cas, like a cat cornering a mouse. Cas eyes the door but he knows its no use. Lucifer brings his fist to cas' face, connecting directly with the old wounds still there causing cas to flinch, this only seems to spur lucifer on more. He starts pounding into cas telling him how useless he is, how he'd be better off dead, each physical blow being matched with a mental one. "Lucifer! Enough!" Gabe growls as cas feels the force of his older brother being physically pulled off of him "get out of here Castiel" gabe whispers to cas.
Cas wastes no time in following his instructions. He darts out of the house, running for a good five minutes before eventually slowing to a walk when he realizes no one is following him. It's around this time that he also realizes that it's dark out, it's late, it's freezing, he didn't pick up a jacket and he has no idea where he is going. He can't go to Jo since her and Ellen are also out of town this weekend and the roadhouse is too far to walk to at this time anyways, he would have probably caught his death before getting there.
He strolls the streets aimlessly until he recognizes a house. He's at deans house. He doesn't know what drove him here, but the same thing drove him to knock on the door. Sam opens the door minutes later his face dropping when he sees the state of cas "oh my god, cas" he exclaims "dean!" He shouts through to his older brother immediately bringing Castiel inside and sitting him on the sofa. "Cas?" Dean squeaks appearing in the room mere seconds later, his heart breaking at the sight of cas, his face bloodied and skin pale, his entire body shivering from the cold.
"I opened the door and he was just there like that" Sam explains "Sammy go to your room" dean instructs but sam seems to linger concern evident on the youngest winchesters face "please" dean requests and Sam hesitantly obeys. "I'm sorry for the intrusion dean, I was out and didn't know where else to go" cas whispers, his eyes never meeting deans, he seems spaced out when he talks, like he's not really sure where he is or what's going on. Dean wraps a blanket around cas and is set with the task of once again cleaning cas' wounds, it's only then that cas realizes he was crying, the warm tears falling on his numbed cheeks, matching the stinging of the alcohol dean is using to clean him.
"Cas?" Dean asks taking a seat beside him on the sofa once he had patched up the dark haired boy as much as his skills would allow him and given him a blanket so that he wouldn't die of hypothermia or something, in deans opinion cas should have been to see a doctor but cas wouldn't go for that. "I'm sorry" cas sobs into deans shoulder "hey, hey, none of this is your fault, you hear me?" Dean asks "but cas.. You gotta tell me what's going on buddy" he adds. Cas lifts his head up, wiping his face in his hands and taking a sharp breath, not admitting to dean that it does in fact hurt when he does that, he puts it down to the cold and the kicks to the ribs over the past couple of days.
"It's my family" cas states, dean feels his world shatter around him "we've never been much of a family to start with" he continues "but my father and my brother lucifer, they hate me, they hit me, usually it's not this bad just the odd punch or kick" he adds seemingly defending his crooked family. Cas finds himself telling dean things he would have never imagined telling anyone before, spilling every detail about his life and his family, about the death of his mother and his abandoning father, his past and anything else that comes to mind. "Cas I swear I could kill them" dean growls balling his fists "dean can I ask you something?" Cas asks, his tone already softening dean "anything" dean finds himself admitting "why do you care? You don't know me all that well and you've saved me on more than one occasion now" he whispers.
Dean doesn't know how to answer with words, those he had never been good with. Instead he snakes his hand around the back of cas' head and tugs him forward, his lips soon dancing across cas'. Cas can't believe it, deans lips spread a warmth through his body that the blanket couldn't, they give him life and make him crave more. The boys are breathless when they pull away but dean still manages to mutter "you're special" to cas before placing another single kiss on the tip of his nose making cas scrunch it slightly at the contact.
Dean insists that cas spend the night at his house, he doesn't want him going back to his family and in all honesty cas doesn't want to. Dean offers up his bed to the smaller boy while he would sleep on the sofa but cas won't see that, through a few more kisses and the batting of cas' angelic eyes dean eventually agrees to share the bed with cas. Castiel sends out a text to Gabriel to tell him he's safe and not to worry and dean and cas get the best nights sleep either of them has ever had, wrapped up in one and others arms.
From that point on Castiel and dean found solace in each other, they became each others beacons of hope. Cas still doesn't know about johns ways but dean knows he'll tell him eventually, he's just building up to it. Meanwhile cas now has 2 people, dean and gabe, willing to do anything and everything to get him away from his brother and father.
The boys haven't yet solidified there relationship as that but with weeks of sneaking out to meet each other in the dead of night, dates to the roadhouse and long kisses they know exactly what they have and that's all that matters to them.
