Chapter 6

“Shuni aamio Tumi aar kano poda shuna korbe na aage, ginni?” Kavish said as he set aside his laptop. ( Let me also hear why you don't want to study anymore.)

Jhilmil played with the hem of her top, trying to figure out an answer.

“I don't like studying…” She finally answered. Kavish let out a very amused chuckle.

“Amar priyo ginni…” He pulled her on his lap and wrapped his arms around her. ( My beloved wifey)

“That's no reason to give up on studies, sweetheart.  Being financially independent is very important in this world. Bujhle, ginni?” He asked, flickering her nose. ( Understood wifey?)

“Why?...will you not provide for my needs the whole life?” She asked in a low voice.

“Yes, I will. Even on my deathbed if I have to work to provide for your needs, I will. But what about after I die? Who will take care of you? I want you to be self-sufficient. I want you to depend on no one. ” He said, cupping her face.

Kavish saw numerous emotions crossing Jhilmil's features. Finally her eyes welled up at the thought of living without her husband, her favourite person.

Kavish gently wiped away Jhilmil's tears, his heart aching at the sight of her distress. He pulled her into a comforting embrace, holding her tightly as she continued to cry softly.

"Jhilmil, my love, don't cry," he whispered, his voice filled with tenderness. "I didn't mean to upset you. I just wanted to express how much I care about you and how deeply I want to provide for your happiness.”

Jhilmil looked up at him, her eyes glistening with tears. "I know, but the thought of losing you is unbearable. You mean everything to me, and the idea of being without you is too painful to bear. Aami aapnake chere thakte parbo na." ( I can't live without you.)

“You are my favourite person in this world. I have only lived with you for just over a month... but it's enough for me to know what I feel for you is real.” She continued as she hiccuped in between her sobs.

Kavish's heart swelled with love and a hint of amusement at her genuine affection. He caressed her cheek gently, his voice filled with reassurance. "Darling, I promise you, I'll do everything in my power to take care of you and provide for your needs.”

He pressed a tender kiss to her forehead, feeling the warmth of their connection.

Jhilmil half heartedly settled for pursuing BA in English Literature. She decided perhaps dreams weren't for her. This was the reality of her life and many others. As long as her husband was by her side, she would live her life with a smile on her face, she told herself.

Kavish gazed lovingly at Jhilmil's sleeping form, taking in the sight of her peaceful expression. He marvelled at the way she seemed to radiate innocence even in her sleep, her hands tucked under her cheeks and a slight pout adorning her lips. It was a sight that never failed to fill his heart with warmth and adoration.

Quietly, he approached the bed and sat down beside her, his eyes tracing the delicate lines of her face. He couldn't help but smile at the sight of her, his love for her growing with each passing moment. He reached out and gently brushed a strand of hair away from her face, his touch light and tender.

In the soft glow of the moonlight filtering through the window, Kavish's heart swelled with a mix of emotions. He was filled with gratitude for having Jhilmil in his life, for the love and happiness she brought to his world. He couldn't help but wonder how he got so lucky to have her as his wife, his partner in this beautiful journey called life.
