Project Halogen that came out of Language Arts? Yeah, somehow.

The new research came out. That meant it was testing time once again. Bromine grasped at my hand, refusing to let go even if it meant that it would pop right off again. As the hazmat-suited, masked-up scientists tried to rip me away from him, our hands interlocked and melted together, creating a sort of purplish-brown color from the icey blue of my hand and the blazing orange of his. Though I thought I would be safe for a moment, the chemical bond holding us together didn't last long. A small burst of tan gas exploded between us, knocking Bromine back along with his entire arm off of his shoulder. I was only knocked back, the green markings on my forehead shooting out a light-lime-green light from the chemical reaction. I shouted, gloved hands attempting to pull me back. One of the men spoke,

"Specimen zero-one-seven, Chlorine. You need to remain calm."

"Don't tell me what to do!"

Before I knew it, there I was in the testing room. In the corner, back against the wall, Hydrogen was there already.

What's she doing here?

I kept my distance from her, knowing what could happen. I'd become a complete hydrogen chloride gas, or maybe if I got lucky, I'd sacrifice a limb to do so instead. I looked to the other corner of the plain white room, and saw Carbon.

Him too?

Over the intercom, I heard a familiar voice say,

"Plant chemistry test number one, proceed."

Doctor Falligett. He was the main reason I was here in the first place. He had the amazing idea of: 'oh, yeah, let's make sentient beings out of chemicals and then force them to give us information'. He might as well have been a diagnosed psychopath and professional lunatic.

Recently, I heard from Iodine, my cell-neighbor, that apparently there's been some sort of research going on about alien life on other planets. Plants somehow manage to attach hydrogen and carbon onto- as much as I hate to call it- "toxic" chemicals like me and Bromine. Those molecules than fly into the air and make us "safe". Therefore, I expected there to be another test soon.
