Might be projecting a bit but anyway:

Stella (Bryce's sister) is dead. This is heavily implied, as we see her in Bryce's waiting room after he dies.

I know this is a common theory, but I imagine she was killed in the same crash as Airy. In the opening scene of episode 14, we see a young Bryce playing with a toy car and a toy truck, crashing them  into each other. The toy car is blue, the same colour as Stella's label and we know Airy was in a truck when he crashed. Cheesy included this detail to hint to us that she died in a crash, and that Airy was also involved.

Bryce was in college at the time. We know that he had graduated  high school before she passed because he has a framed photo of himself and Stella at his graduation in his apartment. It's unlikely this was a college graduation picture, as Bryce works at a fast food restaurant so he probably doesn't have any qualifications that could land him a better job, meaning he doesn't have a degree.

After her passing, he dropped out, unable to continue his studies due to his grief. He would've been extremely close to Stella, as it's implied their mother didn't take good care of them and there is no mention of his father. It seems like his sister was the main caretaker in his life, so her death would've impacted him greatly (obviously it would've been horrible even if his family was healthy, but this makes it worse)

He started drinking to cope with the grief, but eventually cut back on it and got himself a job at Epic Burger and an apartment. His life isn't great, but he's hanging in there. This is why he was so scared to help Liam. He'd already lost so much, and he worked so hard to be able to make an okay life for himself given the circumstances that the thought of losing everything again was terrifying. He couldn't leave Amelia there though.

Amelia reminds him of Stella. Not only physically (similar shades of blue and partially transparent) but personality wise as well. That's why he asked 'is she still there?'. He'd grown to care about her a lot due to how similar she is to Stella and he wanted to be able to save her; he didn't want another person like Stella to die.

I had a lot of fun writing this. Sorry if it's incoherent, I'm super tired rn but I wanted to write this all down.
